Have not done a barbell #turkishgetup in almost 2 years, but @mike.aidala motivated me to try them today with the 75% body weight getup. I’m weigh 180 and started with 95 today and laddered up to 155, (135 and 155 shown in the video) which matches my lifetime PR on this move. Although I haven’t done this barbell variant in nearly 2 years and I rarely go heavier than the 106 pounder I do drill getups regularly and it’s fun to test my limit once in a while. I wasn’t expected to match my PR though, because i was training these so much harder and heavier when I did it back then. This goes to show how much of “strength” is really learned skill. Once a skill is mastered the strength and ability to execute it is yours for a long time and permanently with a little maintenance practice even if your conditioning slips. Moving WELL makes moving MORE much easier, safer, and more fun with no pain and gives you more confidence with trying new physical tasks and challenges. That makes getting into shape (conditioning) or being/staying in shape far easier. Feel free to try the 75% body weight getup challenge if you are up for that. Or for mere mortals I challenge you to drill the getup regularly until you work up to 40-50% of your body weight, being able to maintain breathing the whole way though and see how much your body transforms from just the mastery of this move!

Durante as sessões do treino de força é extremamente comum que se enfatize as contrações excêntricas visando melhores resultados para FORÇA e HIPERTROFIA, nos induzindo a entender que isso é importante, mas porque? 🤔 - Bom, existem estudos que mostram melhores efeitos de força e hipertrofia para ações combinadas às excêntricas quando comparadas com ações isométrica ou concêntrica isoladas. - As ações excêntricas (AE) são caracterizadas por um alongamento “ativo” do músculo que é efeito do menor torque produzido em relação à resistência imposta à ele.
