Trainer Tip Tuesday💪🏼 Part 1. Of Kettlebell RDL Vs. Conventional Kettlebell Deadlift - Do you know what muscles they workout? The difference between the forms?🤔 - First we have the Kettlebell RDL!💪🏼 It is a hip-dominant exercise that largely targets the lower back muscles, glutes, and hamstrings. With little bend of the knees, this exercise will blast the HAMSTRINGS! 💪🏼 Whether working with a Kettlebell or Barbell, both deadlifts tax the lower back. - Tips: -Start with feet slightly hip width apart Kettlebell between the middle of your feet. Chest nice and proud with flat back. Before performing the movement, tear apart the horns on the Kettlebell (engages lats) keep shoulders down and back and engage the core.🔥 - Up Phase: Once you’ve created a stable base. Push through the ground driving the hips forward while squeezing the glutes.✅ Down Phase: When lowering the weight, you want to perform a hinge pattern.✅ To engage the movement drive the hips back with a slight bend in the knees.✅ Driving the Kettlebell straight down between the middle of your feet.✅ Less bend in the knees will target more of the hamstrings, compared to the muscles in a conventional deadlift.✅ - #fitness#tularefitness#visaliafitness#iriyesportsperformance#workout#kettlebell#hamstrings#unconventionaltraining

✳️ Single-arm Mace 360 Analysis ✅ When coming around to the front of a single hand 360 and pulling across with the elbow (pic 3) there are 3 muscles that have to work particularly harder than when doing a two hand 360, the trapezius(pic 2 blue highlight), rhomboid major(pic 1 blue highlight ⬇️) and rhomboid minor(pic1 blue highlight ⬆️) due to muscle attachment and the function. ✅ This places stress on the muscles that stabilize the scapula(shoulder blade) and keep it from flaring (pic 1 blue arrow). Key muscles for doing that are the trapezius and rhomboid muscles. Therefore they work harder. ✅ The insertion of the trapezius is partly on the spine of the scapula(pic 2 red arrow) and the rhomboid major (green arrow pic 1) and minor (red arrow pic 1) is on the medial border of the scapula. Keep in mind the insertion moves toward the origin. Therefore these muscles will contract to keep the scapula from flaring(blue arrow pic1). And because of the attachments it is likely the rhomboids will bear a little more of the load than the trapezius. ✅ In a two hand 360 there is a second hand to help stabilize and keep the mace from tipping and causing scapula flaring. ✅ In a single hand 360 there will also be more pulling across with the elbow to help create that stability, again placing greater stress on the muscles mentioned above. ❇️ TAKEAWAY: In a single hand 360 the trapezius(middle portion) and rhomboid muscles will work harder to stabilize the shoulder and prevent scapula flaring. This translates to more strength in those muscles and a more stable shoulder! ❇️ Technique tip: When pulling across with the elbow, the elbow may cross the center line of the body, dependent on muscle thickness and mobility. Mine does not as seen in the video in the 4th tab. However, regardless of elbow translation the hand should not go much past the center. If the hand crosses too far across the center, e.g. close to the opposite shoulder, you not only have to pull it back but you allow the mace to generate more torque to fall to the opposite side. It’s physics! 🤷🏻‍♂️ If nothing else it’s inefficient. # Concluded in comments.

7 Step Flow State Warmup 🍂🌊 If you want to access a flow state / get in the zone / clear your mind learning how to find your breath is crucial! When in flow it is important that your thoughts not intrude on your focus and break your concentration. It is also important that you be able to maintain this state, which you can’t do if your breath is labored or erratic. So for me it always comes back to the breath, which is why I have a warmup for just that. Enjoy!

DB Pullover and lat function . I highlighted this movement last week in a post on back training and want to touch on it again. . The pullover is a great movement to help teach function of the lats. You use your lats to bench press, deadlift, squat, run, pull-up, row, etc. So yes they’re important! . The lats are responsible for extension, adduction, horizontal abduction and internal rotation of the shoulder. . I know... it’s a lot of nonsense. . What I want your takeaway to be is that the lats are responsible for a lot of movement/stabilization of the shoulder joint and it’s important to “feel” your lats working. . The pullover should help you feel your lats doing work. . Keeping hips low and a bench placed on the thoracic spine will help better cue thoracic extension which is necessary for proper lat function! .

En las rotaciones acelera y desacelera, siempre pivoteando. 2️⃣ Flow con Kettlebell. En el remo activa bien tu abdomen e intenta que el resto de los movimientos salgan fluidos y controlados. Cada vez que el Kettlebell esté en tu hombro debes apoyarlo en tu antebrazo y pegar el codo a tu cuerpo. 3️⃣ Con la vista al frente y zona media activa, alterna piernas y preocúpate de que ambas rodillas se flexionen en 90 grados (el paso hacia atrás es la clave) 4️⃣ En el SKT es clave no perder el control, sobre todo al volver a la posición inicial (Beast). Mindf@$k Monday🧠 : Today everything we do is in excess. We eat excessively, drink excessively, we even BREATHE in excess. (The average person breathes enough for 2 people’s lungs to function). What would happen if you lost all your worldly possessions tomorrow? I’ll tell you, you’d still be alive. Well what’s the problem with excess? The problem is you are comfortable. And when you’re comfortable you are STUCK. If I ask somebody who comes to me for weight loss why they can’t lose weight they might say this reason or that. But the real reason is they are COMFORTABLE. Losing that weight will require some sort of discomfort, whether it be physical or emotional, that they aren’t ready to face. If you ask someone why they didn’t start that business? They weren’t willing to be uncomfortable. If you take a yoga class and the teacher asks you to hold a position for 5 minutes it’s not because they hate you. It’s because we as human beings grow from persevering in the face of discomfort. The next time you shrug off doing something (or maybe you’ve done this recently), ask yourself is it really because you didn’t have time or money? Or were you to scared to take the risk, to scared to give something up and get uncomfortable? It’s okay to be scared, that’s discomfort and if you face it you’ll grow. 🙏🏼
