POSITIVE HIGH: PLAYTIME WITH ELIJAH ————————————————— 🤸🏽‍♂️ At times it can seem tough and almost impossible for us parents to create the time to improve our Health & Fitness and we often feel like we’re being selfish when we take time from being away from our children, but who said we absolutely need to leave our children and go to the gym to improve our overall fitness? If we don’t have a gym membership or the “time” to make it to the gym you can totally start your Fitness Journey at home . . . 💪🏽 Since Elijah was a baby I’ve incorporated PLAYTIME as a means to help improve my overall fitness and to get in quality time. I’ve mixed it up by adding a ton of ground-based movement systems such as @original_strength, @movnat and @gmbfitness. Sometimes our Play Sessions are 5-10 minutes but afterwards I feel so rejuvenated and energized . . . 🤔 Recently I made a conscious decision to create Health & Fitness program where we can help busy parents create the positive shift that fits the lives their lives. When youre a nerd 🤓but also love exercise💪🏽 ➖ Most people use battleropes as a conditioning tool, and theyre GREAT for that! But what about power, or strength? ➖ Its harder to quantify the effect since youre not moving a weight per se, BUT, with this handy dandy device you can 👀 ➖ The gflight is an awesome tool that measures your vertical jump, ground contact time, and reactive strength index 🤾🏽‍♂️ ➖ And applying it to different exercises can allow for more structured training objectives, and thus, better training outcomes. At VDF we hold ourselves to higher standards than most. We have had long standing rules since we began in 2012. I have lately been slack in enforcement of these rules...things are about to change! In order to ensure that all members enjoy their time at Van Demon Fitness, we ask that you observe the following gym rules. 1. Be on time – please ensure that you arrive at least 5 minutes before the start of a workout, ideally 20-30mins early. This is especially important for class based sessions, it can be disruptive to other members and to the overall functioning of the class to walk in late and it's not safe for you to train without warming up. 2.  Listen to, and follow all the instructions of the trainers. Whilst we encourage you to help new members please don't assume a 'trainers' role and start telling people what to do and how to do things!  Trainers are there to lead, direct and supervise the class. They are also there to instruct, guide and encourage you. Let them do their job. 3.  You are responsible for your own fitness, health and safety – advise a trainer if you need to pull back or you aren’t comfortable with a workout. 4.  We are very proud of the wide range of equipment we have assembled and we are sure that you will enjoy training with it. However, please respect our equipment and don’t mistreat it under any circumstances. This includes not dropping dumbbells, empty bars and kettlebells and not needlessly dumping bumper plates. Don't be lazy. 5.  Please ensure that all equipment is returned to its proper place at the conclusion of each workout. If required, please also wipe it down after use. How the centre looks when you walk in should be the way it looks when you walk out. 6.  Do not bring bags and mobile phones into the gym. We have areas to put your personal belongings while you workout. Not only do bags present a safety hazard, the sound of a mobile phone ringing can be disruptive to both you and the class. 7. When you come to a workout, be prepared to give your best effort. Not only will you progress more quickly, you will feel more satisfied with your results. "I can't" looks a hell of a lot different to "I won't"

Happy Tuesday IG Fam! Todays workout is all about loaded mobility. I'm using a moderate amount of weight to load movements that promote better mobility through my shoulders, T-spine, hips and ankles. Who said mobility training can't be fun or challenging? The lateral lunges/shoulder press drill and the static hold on the row had my glutes and hamstrings talking to me! I didn't feel lucky at the time. I was hungover and the coffee still hadn't kicked in. But as soon as that guy said I was lucky I felt truly blessed. It's easy for us to take these days for granted. It's easy to forget how lucky we are to be alive, happy, healthy and strong. Go say something nice to someone. • • Here's a quick spin to lunge flow. Total body integration with this one. We use the flow concept to train the body in three dimensions. The first part spin to uppercut focuses on producing centrifugal force. Then we decelerate that energy with the lunge. Reset do it again! Super fun way to add more movement to your workout. As an athlete you should be able to manipulate force in every direction. The mace has the heaviest leverage arm of any other tool. This creates the most force possible.
