750 calories vs. 140 calories “I’ll just grab a protein shake”. Whilst shakes and smoothies are convenient, their calories can vary considerable. ⠀ Shakes and smoothies can be good for weight loss BUT also for weight gain. Whilst a very basic protein shake - just the powder -can be less than 150 calories, if you start adding a few things👩🏻‍🍳to make that “basic” shake more exciting or to taste better, the calories can really add up. ⠀ P.s. Like humans, lobsters have a long childhood and an awkward adolescence. Just like us, they also carry their young for nine months and can live to be more than 100 years old. It takes 5-7 yrs for a lobster to reach the legal weight and size for human consumption. Like dolphins and many other animals, lobsters use complicated signals to explore their surroundings and establish social relationships. They take long-distance seasonal journeys and can cover 100 miles or more each year... assuming that they manage to avoid the millions of traps set along the coasts. According to invertebrate zoologist Jaren G. Horsley, “The lobster does not have an autonomic nervous system that puts it into a state of shock when it is harmed. It probably feels itself being cut. … I think the lobster is in a great deal of pain from being cut open … [and] feels all the pain until its nervous system is destroyed” during cooking. When you think of hip hinging there's a lot that comes to mind, Deadlifts, Romanians, Good Mornings, or torture, but an incredibly under utilized hip hinge is the Back Raise. We're not talking about glute emphasis here though. We're talking about Hamstrings, Low-Back, and Erectors. The Back Raise is my go to and has been for a long time. This movement is simple, requires a relatively inexpensive piece of equipment, and is very versatile. The Back Raise has a lot of benefits that other hip hinge patterns don't: You're not on your feet. It's easy to manipulate. You don't have to load your grip to get good work in. It's easier to pattern than any other hip hinge, and is a great way to train the same muscles for people who lack mobility for the standard Deadlifts and Good Mornings. You can go very high rep for increased blood flow to your back which feels really good and enhances recovery. It's easy to teach people how to feel the muscles you want them to, and helps build a mind-muscle connection to the posterior chain. I also try to limit my Soy consumption to max 400g a day. 🐘Tempeh - the better Tofu! Fermented (and thus healthier) and tastes better (in my opinion)! And even has less fat haha 🐢Seitan - not too much (max 20% of your daily protein) but a lean source! 🐬Broccoli - you all know that 100 calories Broccoli has more protein than steak. 🐥Protein Powder - convenient source! 🐨Nuts & seeds - very high in calories, but healthy AF and a good low carb option! - 🐻Carbs are not the enemy!
