so I’ve been using @ohsheglows ‘s *loaded* banana bread recipe for MONTHS. my family loves it so much that they make me bake weekly batches of it 😅 on a post work, exhausted whim, I attempted to make them into little muffins🍌 while I will have to alter the recipe to make them fluffier and lighter, they still tasted amazing😋 and I strongly suggest giving the original recipe a try🥥🍌🍫

Meat and dairy were eliminated as a food group and the protein section discusses how to get protein from plants. This looks very similar to the USDA plate. The governmental bodies around the world are catching up with the science. The World Health Organization has favored a plant based diet, and the experts panel to the USDA suggested including wording that emphasizes the need to decrease meat. The US World and News report recently asked experts to rate different diets and the top three were all predominantly plant based diets. The lowest marks were earned by Keto diet, which actually got several stern warnings. Dr. Valter Longo is one of the world’s premier researchers on aging. In his new book, The Longevity Diet, he emphasizes an almost vegetarian diet for longevity. At this point the science is very clear. A plant based diet is the best for your health and the health of the planet!

I have been debating about whether or not I wanted to talk about Bonny Rebecca declaring she is no longer vegan. At times, I can be very quick tempered...and I knew my initial response probably wouldn’t be the same if I waited a few days. Good thing I know myself...because I was right. * I am still sad, frustrated, and even a little angry Bonny is no longer vegan. I think she was a strong leader in the vegan community and it’s always hard when we lose someone like that. * I believe it is ok to be upset and its ok to be angry, what is not ok is to be cruel to another human. We as vegans are fighting for compassion. We are fighting for all living beings to be treated with respect… So how is it ok if we treat another human without the respect we are fighting for? * This is not me saying I’m not angry. This is not me saying I wish Bonny Rebecca wasn’t still a vegan. This is not me saying that click bait titles (in my opinion) are acceptable. This is me saying we need to be kind. We need to be loving. We need to be the type of humans we say vegans are. * @theveganview made a video all about this topic and I believe it is worth a watch. The women of @theveganview embody what I believe the vegan mission is. Go watch the video because I think it might help some of us who are still feeling the loss in the vegan community 💖

I feel like I haven’t been as real with you all as I could lately. It’s been weighing on me which is crazy to even think bc I haven’t even met many of you, but I do feel so connected to all of you & feel so grateful this platform can connect us. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Anxiety is so real. Depression is so real. Energy shifts are so real. By NO means do I have my shit together fully...I mean, do any of us? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This past weekend I slept nearly all of Friday Saturday and Sunday because of heavy energy on me. A year ago, I would have forced myself to work. I would have drank coffee to push through. I would have ran miles on the treadmill to escape the feelings...but now...now I’ve learned SO much, through personal experience, through coaching people, through observation...that we have the tools within us to move through weekends like this in a healthy way. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So what did I do? I slept. I meditated, like, a fuck ton. I massaged myself with sesame oil (abhyanga). I took crystal baths. I practiced yin yoga. I water fasted. I wrote letters expressing my feelings to people. And what healed me most? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Finally expressing what I wrote on paper to the actual people. A WEIGHT off my shoulders like no other. And I was held with so. much. love. in response. I felt cuddled from miles away and my soul felt liberated. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This was a long one, but if you’ve made it this far, it clearly means you can relate in some way or another. Just know that your emotions pass. Don’t force anything. Flow with it. Move with it. Ask yourself what you need to do to make yourself feel better. And maybe like me, it’s using your voice. Activate that throat chakra & free your soul. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ You can never do wrong if you are fully expressing your truth with the goodness of all living beings in mind. I love you all🌹

Happy hump day !! Today I wanted to talk about listening to your your body and not just following the same old routine but going about things by checking in and seeing how you feel, not pushing yourself or forcing yourself to do things of your body is telling you it’s sore or tired or full and not ready to eat, listening to your body not your habits. First of all, eating habits, we have been taught to eat at specific times of day, eat different meals at those times and snack in between, we usally eat even if we are full because it’s our habit our routine to eat at breaky lunch and dinner, BUT the thing is, if your body is feeling stuck, slow or full and you don’t feel like you need to eat because your still full from breakfast or you woke up and don’t feel like you need food but just a juice or tea, people think they can’t skip a meal they HAVE TO EAT wrong!!! YOU DONT HAVE TO, I’m not saying it’s ok to starve yourself or support not eating to loose weight, I’m saying that it’s important to notice how you feel, if you wake up starving and feel like a big breaky and then are still full at lunch and just want a juice to power you, that’s ok, if your body says to you “no I’m full I’m not ready to eat again” your food has not digested and you will feel very sick if you force more food into you and you will become slow and sluggish, the same goes if you eat a small breaky and feel starving in a couple hours it’s ok to eat again and eat a big meal to give yourself energy! It’s about control and checking in, listening to how you feel! Not following the habits you once had! Similarly with exercise! Your body will tell you how it feels, if you wake up and feel slow and lethargic you will need something to power you and wake you up, a high I intensity HIIT workout or a run to get your body moving and going so you gain some energy ! if you wake up feeling firey and anxious, yoga or a walk , a light body weight workout, these will help slow you down and calm your body to come back to a peaceful state. It’s all about awareness of yourself , of your body, mind and feelings, if you simply follow the same routine everyday you will not always need the same as yesterday 🌈🌻💓

Breathe deeply, Before you pick up your food, take a couple of deep breaths to allow your body and mind to settle/ ~ 2. Look at your food, Think about where it comes from. Try to imagine the different ingredients in their original form and even the types of people who looked after the crops or animals/ ~ 3. Be appreciative, Without going on a guilt trip, appreciate the fact that you actually have food on your plate. This will bring the feeling of thankfulness that is at the heart of a meaningful mindfulness practice/ ~ 4. Note the little things, If you’re going to eat the food with your hands, notice its temperature, colors, and texture as you pick it up. When you move it to your mouth, shift your focus to the aroma and taste/ ~ 5. Analyze your response, Notice how your mind responds. Do you like what you’re eating/ Do you wish it were sweeter, saltier, a little less spicy/ Are you comparing it to previous meals/ ~ 6. Breathe deeply, Take a few deep breaths before you finish and leave the table. Remind yourself of how the plate looked when it was full and how it looks now.
