How to reduce your carbon emissions and save the planet, start with your plate. More about foods and emissions here below. ::::: - credit to @veganinformation . ::::: THESE ARE THE MOST CLIMATE-DAMAGING FOODS 🌏 ”Beef – Beef is widely recognized as the most climate-damaging of all foods. A 2017 study by the Natural Resources Defense Council on food consumption in the US calculates that each kilogram of beef produces 26.5 kilograms of CO2 emissions -- the highest among all the foods observed in the study, and five times more than chicken or turkey meat. Reducing beef consumption is an effective way of curbing global emissions. But why is beef so bad? "The feed is largely produced using lots of pesticide and fertilizer, which requires fossil fuels," explains Sujatha Bergen, one of the authors of the study. "Also, the digestive system of the cows produces methane, which is 25 times more potent a greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide. And the manure emits additional greenhouse gases." Lamb – For each kilo of lamb meat consumed, there are 22.9 kilos of emissions, the NRDC study estimates. Meat production also requires large amounts of animal feed, mainly the resource-intensive corn and soy. The synthetic fertilizer and the manure used to grow these also releases nitrous oxide, a climate-warming pollutant 298 times more powerful than carbon dioxide. Butter – The third most damaging food, by some distance, is butter: one kilo of butter equals nearly 12 kilos of CO2 -- about half as many as beef. It belongs to the same supply chain, making dairy and beef cattle an environmentalist's nightmare. Shelllfish – Shellfish costs the environment 11.7 kilos of CO2 for every kilo of food produced, just marginally less than butter” - Source: www.CNN.org ::::: Please follow me: -@vegan_clubtv

Today I was spoilt to an amazing #vegancookbook 😍 Now anyone who knows me knows I’m the furthest thing from a chef 👩‍🍳😂 Actually, I have a nasty scar on my finger from a disastrous chickpea can opening incident 🤷🏼‍♀️ But my cooking skills (or lack thereof) are definitely linked to how much I HATE touching raw chicken/red meat. It always used to make me sick to my stomach 🤦🏼‍♀️ But I’ve definitely become less terrified of the kitchen since I’ve become vegan! It’s such a wholesome feeling to have cruelty free ingredients 😊♥️🥑🍒 . #vegan#veganliving#studentvegan#joburgvegan#newvegan#plantbased#vegetarian#vegetarianeating#capetownvegan#veganmeal#fitgirl#vegains#veganweightloss#plantbasedliving#whatveganseat#healthyliving#vegansofsa#veganlife

Bowl loaded with roasted potato wedges and vegetables (broccoli florets, mushrooms), fresh tomatoes and 1/2 avocado stuffed with hummus. 🥙 Via @lea.bowls.your.mind Via @veganbombs . 👍🏻 . Please follow me: -@vegann_daily

🌟Don’t ever let your old story or limiting beliefs get on your way of what you really want!🌟 If you want it- go and get it! 💚 I struggled with my body, confidence and weight from the age of 10 up until 21. I tried all the diets you can think of. It wasn’t until I joined the gym at the age of 21 and got the help of a personal trainer on my nutrition and training that I lost the weight. I was happier, but even tho I had the fit body- didn’t see it when looking in the mirror. Then I got into NLP- neuro linguistic programming- changing our mind patterns, beliefs, language and releasing negative emotions . That’s when my mind followed my physical change. Now I help women lose weight with vegan nutrition, training and mindset work from all the years of experience, training with clients and knowledge. If you have any questions- pop them into comments and I am happy to help;) Lots of love and remember- anything is possible! 💚 🌟🌟🌟 Link in bio for Awaken The Goddess Project- 8 week mind and body transformation! 🌟🌟🌟 #veganweightloss #veganweightlossjourney #weighttrainingforwomen #womenscoach #vegancoach #transformationcoach #awakenthegoddessproject #neverquitting #beforeandafterweightloss #vegantreener

Aaaah, what a perfect #afternightshift brunch spread 🍌🥒🍓☕️ did you know, that drinking green tea reduces the amount of cavity causing bacteria in the mouth by 50%? That’s why drinking green tea before eating bagels/cake/... makes a lot of sense (➡️ watch video by @nutrition_facts_org {Werbung da Verlinkung}) Ok, now to the #bagelporn: hummus, cucumber, chili flakes; dried tomato hummus, chives; vegan cream cheese, strawberry jam, blueberries; haselnut butter, banana, cacao nibs; green tea, freshly squeezed orange juice. Checks off a lot of my #dailydozen! . . . #hummus #bagel #nutbutter #cacaonibs #greentea #vegancreamcheese #dailydozenchallenge #breakfast #healthybreakfast #veganbreakfast #breakfastporn #breakfastlove #plantbased #plantbaseddiet #vegansofig #veganlinz #foodshare #veganfoodshare #veganisation #linz #igerslinz #vegan #whatveganseat #veganweightloss #leanin2018 #lovebeingvegan

Eating is the cause of mercury exposure in the US. Mercury is a toxic metal that poses a serious health risk to humans. It targets the nervous system and kidneys and is particularly harmful to developing fetuses and children, who can suffer brain damage and cognitive disabilities from exposure to . . All fish have some mercury. When little fish are eaten by bigger fish (like tuna), the amount of mercury biomagnifies. But that’s not all, fish are also high on cholesterol and often contaminated with PCBs and even plastic! According to one article, “Seafood eaters ingest up to 11,000 tiny pieces of plastic every year with dozens of particles becoming embedded in tissues, scientists have warned.” Yikes. . The best way to reduce your exposure to mercury and other toxins found in fish is by simply not eating them. Let be free and let your body be free of the toxins they carry! 🐠🐟🐙🦈🐋 Leave a comment below if you pledge to go fish-free! 🙋‍♀️ Art by @jeanneewy for 💕 Please follow me: -@vegan_stores

Comforting and easy vegan lentil lasagna by @panaceas_pantry. Great for holiday entertaining! 🍝 You’ll need: 2 cups cooked brown lentils. 1 cup vegetable stock. 2 Tbsp olive oil. 1 brown onion, finely diced. 4 garlic cloves, crushed. 1 large carrot, grated. 1 large zucchini, grated. 1 tin diced tomatoes. 1/3 cup tomato paste. 2 Tbsp balsamic vinegar. 4 sprigs fresh thyme, leaves removed. Salt and pepper. 🍝 White sauce: 1/4 cup vegan butter. 2 Tbsp flour. 350mL plant milk. 1/4 cup nutritional yeast OR grated vegan cheese. 8-10 sheets Lasagne sheets (@sanremopasta used in the pic) 🍝 Method: 1. Preheat oven to 200 degrees C. 2. Heat a large frypan over medium heat. When hot, add onion and cook till translucent. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds. Add carrot, zucchini and cook balsamic vinegar and cook for a further 2 mins. 3. Add remaining ingredients then bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 10-15 or until tender. 4. Meanwhile, make white sauce. Melt butter in a saucepan. Turn off heat and whisk in flour. Once whisked, add milk and yeast/cheese. Return to heat and whisk until you bring to a boil, seasoning with salt and pepper. 5. Assemble your lasagne. In a large baking tray, add a layer of the lentil mix, top with white sauce and then a layer of Lasagne sheets. Repeat with more layers, finishing with a white sauce layer on top. Top with extra vegan cheese (optional) and chopped parsley and bake for 30-40 mins. . Please follow me: -@vegan_clubtv

6 MONTHS ❤️ Last month I was lost and confused. Feeling like a total failure. 👋🏼 This month I’m back on a positive road. I totally removed gym workouts from my training, and stopped measuring my food. 🧘‍♀️ I’ve been doing yoga (not the fast-I’m-out-of-breath-what-the-hell-is-going-on type, the super chill, long stretches and relaxation type). 🌱 I’ve been eating predominantly whole vegan food and practising mindful eating. “Do I really want this, and does it match my intention of optimum health?”. 🛑 I genuinely believe I was on my way to an eating disorder a few weeks back. Suffering with extreme guilt, binges, the urge to purge etc. 🙏🏼 Please never, ever let your goals take precedence over your happiness. 🚶🏼‍♀️ This journey began six months ago when I started walking everyday, and trying to make better choices. 😀 I’ve learnt so much about my body and my mind, and of course have made a hell of a lot of mistakes along the way. 📝 Here are some tips for those looking to get started: 1. Start by walking. A little everyday! This will build a habit of health. Once that habit is there look for things you may enjoy to add in! 2. Try and eat consciously. Take a pause before eating and ask if you really want this food. 3. Set your intention. Don’t just say “I want to lose weight”. Ask yourself why. If it’s tied to hating yourself now, you will fall into an energy of punishment which is not an enjoyable way to lose weight! An intention to get healthy mentally and physically because you are a walking miracle and deserve it works way better! 4. Remember... one bad day, even one bad week or month, doesn’t mean you failed! You can always make the next right choice. That door is always available. 5. This isn’t a quick fix... it’s a long journey. It’s the rest of your life. A reprogramming of old habits and behaviours. Invest in your mind as well, I highly recommend the @livingrightwithbillcortright podcast ❤️ . . . #weightlosstransformation #weightlossjourney #weightloss #transformationtuesday #transformation #vegan #veganism #veganweightloss #beforeandafter #beforeandafterweightloss
