AGING 🤔 Skin, like every other organ in your body, begins to age when you are about 20 because of internal cellular changes, many of which are genetically programmed. * But skin is different from other organs because it is also exposed to external injury, mainly environmental damage by sunlight and pollution. * Environmental factors also include those things we do to ourselves, such as eating poorly, drinking too much, smoking etc. * These environmental factors cause biological changes that accelerate the natural aging process. * It is estimated that roughly 90% of the visible signs of aging are caused by environmental injury 🤯!! 90%. * This means that only 10% of aging is beyond our influence. The Amazon Rainforest produces more than 20 percent of the planet's oxygen and is home to the most biodiversity in the world. According to the BBC the rainforest contains roughly 3 million different species of animals and plants, that's more biodiversity than anywhere else on Earth. I had little knowledge of the Amazon fires until today, that's incredibly sad to see the lack of media coverage of something so detrimental and disastrous to our planet. According to reports Brazil's Amazon fires have been occurring since 2013 and between January and August of this year, there have been 72,843 fires in Brazil, where 60 percent of the Amazon rainforest is located. In providing more than one-fifth of the planet's oxygen, the rainforest's trees also store vast amounts of carbon, which stops carbon from accumulating in the atmosphere to reduce the amount of heat it absorbes known as global warming. These fires are destroying the Lungs of the Planet, but whats just as disheartening is the lack of coverage of such a huge event that will impact the entirety of this planet. No wonder, that self-love could easily turn to self-rejection everytime I thought I had failed at something. It made me fall back to 'not good enough' mindset time and time again. . Later on, I learned that self-love means embracing even 'the ugliest part' of ourselves. . It means we are always willing to forgive ourselves for whatever mistake or failure we've made. How strong is your core? Don't worry I am not about to ask you how long you can hold the plank for, or how many sit-ups you can do! I am talking about your emotional core. One of the things I can often be heard talking about with clients is the importance of having a really clear sense of what is at your core. What does it mean to be you? What are the values and principles that are important to you? What are the internal set of criteria you have for validating yourself? When you have a really clear sense of what is at the core of being you, it helps you set goals that actually resonate with you, it helps reduce some of the social comparison that can wobble you, it gives you something robust to come back to when life gets tough. Whether you are struggling with motivation, confidence, identity or resilience, working on your core is a great place to start. Yes , I left after 9 months ( much to my father's disappointment I recall ) 😱 So I did all sorts of other things until at the age of 23 I came across an advert in a local paper advertising for people to become learning disability nurse students. I applied and started my training in January 1990 and never looked back 💯 I developed a gift and a calling for supporting the staff teams I worked with and managed , And I knew there had to be other ways of supporting our nurses and health and social professionals. The traditional style supervision and reflective practice alone wasn't and still isn't enough. Then I found coaching , a way of supporting others to be their best in all areas of their lives , to take control , put themselves first, to be in a position to do more and be more in everything that they chose to do. My first hand experiences , training , skills and knowledge have equipped me with the confidence to pursue a career in coaching others. My passion is supporting health and social care professionals as I've been through the experiences that some of you are going through right now. Why struggle , worry and procrastinate when support is at hand. I know the score , I've been there and believe me , you can be empowered , you can be confident , you can do a great job at work , and still have time for you 🤔♥️ ok

When we have more patience we are more calm, less anxious, more mindful, generally happier and more content. When we are more patient our relationships flourish. Rather than being irritable we are accommodating and calm.  There is much less potential for conflict and our relationships are more harmonious as a result. Being patient is often linked to more realistic expectations of ourselves and others, helping to combat perfectionistic tendencies and thinking. Something to think about. I love this. :) It’s so true. “Act in spite of fear” is one of my favorite mantras. Over the past couple of years almost every decision I’ve made has caused me to feel at least a little fear, if not be down right terrified! But that’s just because change is hard for me and the only way to grow, and evolve, and truly live your best life is to embrace that change. To welcome it with eagerness and optimism. . Change is going to happen no matter what, so we can either be the co-creators of our life, or feel like a victim of circumstances. The choice is ours. . Fear is normal and it’s ok to feel it, but it’s how you deal with it that’s the key. Recognize it, acknowledge it, and then move through it with trust. . . My life has changed in so many wonderful ways, and I would have NEVER guessed that I would be doing the things now that I am. Turkey? LIVE tV? Clients in Dubai? I love it all, and the decisions I had to make to get there scared the crap out of me, continue to throw me curve balls, and it’s been amazing. . UNPLUG & CONNECT I was walking through Chatswood yesterday afternoon and noticed huge numbers of people plugged in to their tech. Some sitting in groups silently playing with their phones, or with headphones on. Families quiet and disconnected. Few making eye contact with each other. It was very thought provoking. Tech is an important part of modern life. However, so is being authentically connected and attentive to others. Having a chat, a laugh, sharing stories and really being present with others.
