This week’s #wcw goes out to our very own ChiefJustice Mary Fairhurst (#bosslady), a frequent presenter for the Civility Center for Law, and a true leader for civility. Whether in a personal or professional interactions, she always seeks to understand what is the experience of the other, to find common ground, and to foster equity and justice. Throughout her career, Chief Justice Fairhurst has enhanced the opportunities for women and minorities in the legal profession and worked to ensure access to justice for marginalized populations such as low-income individuals and families, minorities, and immigrants. In March 2017, in response to the Trump administration increasing the presence of ICE officials around local courtrooms, Justice Fairhurst wrote a letter speaking out against this practice, stating that ICE officials around local courtrooms impedes“the fundamental mission of our courts, which is to ensure due process and access to justice for everyone, regardless of their immigration status[...]When people are afraid to appear for court hearings, out of fear of apprehension by immigration officials, their ability to access justice is compromised." It may only be Tuesday but I'm throwing it back. Sometimes I miss the old days when my parents owned The Karate Revolution. I think fondly of training, helping people reach their goals & working with some of the best fighters around. My favorite trainer yet is Steve Blackman.I don't think I want to return to MMA or kickboxing but the memories are wonderful. Not many know this, but we faced many hardships due to running this dojo. We ended up broke. No food in the fridge. I couldn't even afford the reduced $.40 lunches at school. If it weren't for wonderful friends & their families I wouldn't have made it through 40 hours of school, the 20 hours I was trained, & the additional 20 hours I spent training children & other fighters. Alas, I survived & now I'm secure in my life. #repost @get_over_the_bar #getoverthebar The BAR we have set you to get over today is the one of, learning to love the body  you have, as a coach in the fitness industry I see and hear things which are the worst forms of body shaming. Magazines constantly showing #airbrushed  models, a staunch exampel. These unrealistic ideals just don’t resonate with the general population.  I even found myself wrestling with the fact I could no longer squeeze into the same jeans I did a few years ago, so I challenge you to do what I did and that is embrace the body you have. We are all different shapes and sizes and look great in them, as long as you look after your physical and mental health, leave the haters to hate.  To help you start off, here’s a few things you should stop doing, and a  few things you should start! Stop 1.  Stop letting a look or comment from someone else determine how you feel about yourself. 2.  Stop thinking you aren't in the body you are supposed to have 3.  Stop judging yourself by what you can't do and instead celebrate what you can 4.  Stop waiting to reach your goal to enjoy your body Start 1.  Appreciate all the things your body can do 2.  Realise that fitness is not about skinny jeans or skinny-girl stereotypes. 3.  Accept your body type 4.  Dare to not compare your body 5.  Walk with your head held high, supported by pride and confidence in yourself as a person. 6.  Don’t let your weight or shape keep you from activities that you enjoy. 7.  Wear comfortable clothes that you like, that express your personal style, and that feel good to your body. 8.  Count your blessings, not your blemishes. 9.  Keep a list of 10 positive things about yourself—without mentioning your appearance.  Add to it daily #strongisnotasize #strongsetter #girlswholift #girlswhofight #gotb #getoverthebar #womenwholift #womenwhofight #loveyourbody #instaquote #bodyfitness #pt #loveyourself

I truly believe half of my ability to win comes from the trust I have in my coach and corners. When you have a corner and a coach you trust them with your life, one wrong piece of advise can land you in serious trouble. Since my first bout with my coach he’s always given me the best directions in and outside the ring. His ability to spot critical points in my fight and have me change games plans to adjust are almost impossible to find in other coach’s .
