For eight years after I finished college I went to an office five times a week (sometimes more). My days were about sitting for hours on end writing code, reviewing it, attending meetings, making sure others were getting their bit of coding done etc etc. I had way too much coffee and little or no real food. I slept badly, drank a lot. I was overweight, had breakouts and dark circles. . . So it sometimes feels surreal to me that I'm actually living the life I used to dream of. Yoga classes, retreats, helping people improve their health, studying with the most amazing people, writing about yoga, bringing out my own book...A few years ago if you told me that one day I would be organising yoga retreats and teaching yoga in beautiful locations to amazing yogis, I would never have believed it. Yet, here I am. #yogachangeslives. . . I'm excited to see what next year will bring. I certainly hope more yoga, more students, more retreats and my book! 🧘🧘🧘 . . PS. ✨Spotlight on the Indie Community 💡 Student and YTT grad @jordanfrank shares his story: What’s up Indie people! My name is Jordan, and I'm from West Philadelphia (cue intro to Fresh Prince of Bel Air... ) I went to college in PA, and then lived in London for a few years where I worked at a startup. After my stint across the pond, I took a marketing agency job on the east coast with a second office in San Diego, which is what eventually led me here. I've been living in SD for the past 11 months, and couldn't be happier. This is my FIRST year seriously practicing yoga! My previous roomie Fallon Lev brought me in to take one of her classes back in February, and I was immediately hooked ... (gracias @fallonlev 😆) . . Something about practicing in this environment really drew me in and made me want to explore yoga further. I completed Indie's YTT in December, so it's been quite a transformational year! The people got me hooked on Indie initially, and the teachers really sealed the deal for me over time. It's such an inclusive community, and each teacher offers a unique style... . Someone once said that "yoga is like a martial art, but you're competing against yourself." That quote resonated with me, because my practice at Indie has facilitated A LOT of physical, mental, and spiritual growth. And it's not always easy - it takes work. So much of our lives are lived in the past and future, and yoga has helped me focus my energy in the present moment, both on and off my mat. . To anyone who might be nervous to practice at Indie for the first time: Inhale deeply through your nose, filling all the way up. Exhale with an open mouth. Read this quote, and then close your eyes: "I know you feel anxious, but you forgot the part where you are a badass.”🌟

Hoy te comparto 5 superalimentos que no son alimentos y que nutren poderosamente tu vida! Muchos de nosotros estamos desnutridos en alguno o varios de estos “superfoods” y eso nos causa cansancio, desmotivación, pérdida de vitalidad y antojos. No solo van a nutrir tu cuerpo si no la totalidad de tu vida! 1- EL CONTACTO FÍSICO. Nuestra fisiología nos demuestra que a partir del contacto físico amoroso y reconfortante somos capaces de liberar oxitocina, un neurotransmisor capaz de reducir el cortisol, el ritmo cardíaco y proporcionarnos esa sensación de bienestar. En muchas ocasiones el “cuerpo” nos manifiesta en forma de hambre o antojos una necesidad que NO es la nutricional, si no la afectiva y la de contacto físico, ya sea contigo, a través de un masaje, un abrazo de un ser querido, o el contacto con animales. 2- EL SILENCIO. El silencio es hoy una verdadera joya y muy poco apreciada. ¿Has experimentado que pasa cuando reducimos el ruido externo…? Que aparece el ruido interno! Y ese ruido interno no es más que pensamientos, emociones y sensaciones. Nos puede llegar a sorprender y a abrumar el proceso de silenciarnos por dentro, pero es un NUTRIENTE BÁSICO en tu vida. 3- LA RISA. Cuántas caras largas, faltas de expresión, de luz y de risa… No hay mucho que explicar aquí. La risa es otro de los superalimentos de los que muchos estamos desnutridos y cambia toda la bioquímica de tu organismo. 4- EL PLACER. ¿Sabes lo que te aporta placer, lo que te gusta hacer, de lo que disfrutas una barbaridad practicando? ¿Cuánto te privas y cuánto le dedicas a lo que te aporta placer? 5- EL DESCANSO. Muy breve: vivimos en el mañana, frenéticamente… Tanto, que apenas nos da tiempo a descansar, y éste es el mayor de los alimentos. No por mucha cafeína, té matcha, o Maca va a hacer que nos sintamos más vitales si no descansamos. Y es más… hay veces que no estás “hambriento”, simplemente estás cansado, y el cuerpo te lo manifiesta en forma de una “necesidad”. Depende de ti el proceso de descodificar el mensaje. Autoescucha, autoindagación y amor por ti ❤
