Just stopped by at one of my favourite bookstores here in Berlin and flipped through a pretty cool and thought-provoking book (right before they kicked, or rather dragged, me out). The smart author made the experiment of living one year as if it was her last one on Earth. 👀Eeeh holy moly - just imagine what this would do to your way of living. It would change eeeverything from the stuff we do during the day to the way we spend our money, to the people we hang out with. I would RUN to go catch every sunset I could. And I would go watch a swanlake ballett show in beautiful Paris. And I would visit all pyramids and temple ruins on Earth and try to discover their secrets. And I would dance. A lot. And I would want the best and funniest and deepest conversations with friends and family and also random strangers ever - to soak up everyone's wisdom and ways of seeing the world. And I would wanna tell everyone how amazing they are and that they could set their pretty feet in any direction they choose. And I would stare at the night sky every day and wonder what's out there (ET you hear me?) 👽✨. And I would probably eat a lot of vegan cheese cake 🍰. Funny how we tend to push the uncomfortable matters faaar away from us even though they'd help us realize what it is that we love about this awkward earthly experience here. Haha this is what you do when you still can’t quite control yourself around a full jar of nut butters 🤦🏼‍♀️ (post show/prep feels LOL) 🥜 Gotta say the benefits of gaining some lbs are the KILLER workouts that come with it! Muscles are filling out, strength is up and energy is soooooo much better. If you do a lot of yoga, or use it as your main form of exercise, listen up....👂 • • Yoga, as you likely know, is great at calming you down and making you feel good from a central nervous system point of view. Science confirms yoga creates positive effects on your brain’s neurotransmitters! 💪 • • What yoga doesn’t do well is train you how to optimally utilize the strength and power of your kinetic chain. Across the board, my yoga privates look like the figure on the left, not the right. 👀 😧 • • The models are oversimplified but they do a good job of illustrating this common pattern. Most yogis I know or work with (myself included) are walking around with this posture, which over time leads to a myriad of issues including back pain, decreased hip mobility. This is due to overactivity of incorrect muscles with underuse of the most powerful ones. This has resulted from a lack of biomechanical science merging into the landscape of group yoga classes out there. 🧐 • • Some suggestions to fix this: 🤓 1. Stop back extension work for now. (No backbends!) 2. Stop stretching your hamstrings. (They are overstretched by the anterior tilt of your pelvis). 3. Start strengthening your hamstrings and do release work on your hip flexors. (Look at the pulley action of the diagram). 4. Strengthen your glutes and teach them how to fire when you are standing, walking and moving. 5. Strengthen your abdominals, in particular your TVA. 6. You don't just do yoga when you swing your sweet little ass on the mat or into a yoga class. Yoga can show up in the way you perceive a sunset (see that beauty?), appreciate a moment with a loved one (are you present and listening?), or how you acknowledge your own awesomeness (you may not be as horrible as you think). Yes, you are entitled to enjoy life. And to get better at that we gotta figure out what it is that prevents you from doing so. The practice of yoga makes you aware of HOW you stumble through life (how do you take on challenges?), then takes out your stinky mental trash 💩(ever heard of those limiting beliefs etc.?), so that you got more headspace to train your pretty little brain in recognizing the cool stuff all around you and dealing with the not so great stuff in a smarter and calmer way. Plus, as you get rid of the sticky dust dimming your perception, you get clearer on what you want and - boom - your inherent light (aka awesome personality) can finally shine through #highfive 🙌🏻. Eventually, through all that dusting-off and "space-making" (physically and mentally), you can systematically shape your way of thinking and even b e i n g (ever heard: "What you think, you become"? You guessed it - mind your thoughts;) ). Sounds better than a therapy session? It damn is - and way more fun. #yogaisasuperpower 📸 by @officeflucht

You make me a beliver?!?! NO!! I am not giving anybody that kind of power. And after I forget (bcs I am human and it happens), I am taking the power back. I make ME a believer . This is my church. So many constructs the mind creates. We call them theories but we might as well call them interpretations. We forget about the limits of our understandings (there was a time when the majority of people believed the earth is flat and even today in 2018 there is a minority called "Members of the Flat Earth Society" that claim to believe the Earth is flat. Keyword being BELIEVE. ) and we start to claim (the other keyword), start to talk about a topic like it is the absolute truth just because we have chosen to believe in that exact construct - the one of many possible. Then we work hard to prove that what we heard/read/listened to and submitted to believe, is, in fact, the absolute truth. To some degree this is probably unavoidable, from time to time we can all get caught in persuading and sometimes we are not even aware, I dare to assume. The problem appears when we start to impose and unreflectively force our chosen believes to other people from a position of power which oftentimes is a mask for our insecure need to be right, to have possession over the absolute truth, to confirm through others to ourselves that we are on the "right path" and that we Understand life...if we manage to convince enough people into believing what we believe in, then it will somehow have more value? It will reinforce itself in being more credible? - closer to the absolute? Yesterday I was wisely told this like it is common sense (among many other interesting "facts"): "It takes 12 years to be prepared to teach a discipline because it is the Jupiters cycle". Obviously the *time* is the main factor, not the analytical quality of presence and consciousness during research, not practicing with awareness, not studying the mechanics, anatomy, kinesiology and not the quality of the methods of our practice, not learning the art of teaching, not to have the ability to articulate what you embodied and not the ability to inspire, to empower people and give them space to filter what they...
