Shoulderstand or salamba sarvangasana is often referred to as the "queen" of all asanas and headstand or sirsasana is known as the "king". Traditionally taught together, many yogis believe these two poses to be the foundation of which a practice should be built upon. While headstand is heating and energizing for the body, shoulderstand helps to calm the nervous system and cool us down. In today's yoga culture, with the slew of "inversion junkies" popping up on social media, this pose tends to get overlooked by some of the more popular and challenging looking ones. But this pose is tough! Considered intermediate or advanced, it should definitely be practiced with care. I'm a total sucker for props and would never attempt or teach this pose without them. TEACHERS -what do you do to increase internal hip rotation mobility? . Looking at yoga poses there are not so many poses that do work in the internal rotation if you count how many there is that work on external and how advanced they are. . Recently I've done the assessment of my internal rotation and it is even less that what is expected for a normal range of motion. So here is another thing I need to work on definitely. . Looking at my students I also noticed that to majority of them that internal rotation comes so easy and all exercises I give them are easy for them. So I want your help on this 💜 . Можно и нужно активно проявлять свои эмоции и чувства - это будет уместно, и вас поймут правильно. Только в этот день пища полностью усваивается и преобразуется в тканях. В этот день надо насытиться, но не переедать. Как основа питания предпочтительнее молоко и творог; противопоказана животная пища. Хорошо в пятый день совершить поездку куда-либо, поплакать, расстаться с ненужным, работать с травами - собирать, сушить их и настаивать. Это творческий день, в который прекрасно усваиваются знания. Можно отстаивать свои идеалы, принципы, убеждения. Гадание. На будущее. Сны. Хорошо, если вы плачете во сне, - это очищение. Организм таким образом приводится в порядок. Если сны связаны с дорогой, с движением - у вас все благополучно. Если снится что-то неприятное - это знак, что надо заняться своим здоровьем. В медицинском отношении следует обратить внимание на пищевод. Тошнота и рвота означают неправильное использование этого дня. Голодать нельзя. Зачатие. День двойственный. Ребенка, зачатого в этот день, могут всю жизнь преследовать сильные и опасные враги. Он будет наказан за все проступки и злые помыслы. Все его зло обернется против него. Возмездие. С другой стороны, ребенок может стать необычной личностью, способной переживать превращения и трансмутации. Судьба зачатых в этот день будет терпеть кардинальные перемены в плохую или хорошую сторону два или три раза. Рождение. Рожденные в этот лунный день трансформируют пищу в физическую и астральную энергию. Могут родиться богатыри, святые, но без серьезной помощи со стороны недолговечны. #treepose / #vrksasana - a common yoga #asana & one that we see all over #socialmedia - it’s a very #instagram friendly #posture. However as I start to explore more my own #functional movement I’m questioning many such postures with regards to how we do them. . Traditionally you would pick up your foot & place it on the thigh (video 1) & voila, a beautiful & #aestheticallypleasing tree pose but what if this way did not actually do the job of truly supporting your body? What then? You see in the process of lifting the foot we hike up that side of the pelvis & if the flexibility is not quite there the pelvis may not come into a neutral position & even if the flexibility is there, by having the foot this high you do not get a true engagement of the hip & gluteals. . How about considering a different form (video 2) & instead simply lift the knee, open it to the side & let the foot land where it lands. Instantly you’ll notice your glutes engaging & the hip stabilisers are recruited to keep you stable. You may even be able to open the hips further here. If it’s very wobbly, reduce the foot height & slowly build up. Don’t stress about the knee, unless it hurts it’s ok. You could try doing this with the breath - lifting with the inhale, lowering with the exhale & then holding for x10 rounds of breath. Your legs will have to work so much harder, your muscles will get stronger & your overall stability will improve. But is it as #pretty? Maybe not. Maybe less hits on the Instagram page but who cares! Putting #functionoveraesthetics always 😉 . Try it & see. I’m changing up what I practice folks, you’ll see this in my #classes - just because I’ve done something one way for years, doesn’t mean I can’t change it 👊🧘‍♀️😚 . #livetothriveyoga #reallifeyoga #accessibleyoga #adaptiveyoga #yogaforeveryone #yogaworks #doyogaforyou #getreal

Not me, ever since my boxing days, my wrists have been tremendously tight and strong, which was an important benefit for boxing. But ,this tightness has always made this asana almost impossible for me to experience correctly. .. ...
