#throwback to #happytraveler @willsmith running The Havana Half Marathon last month. "We're here, we're in Havana, Cuba for my bucket list,” said Smith just moments before the race began. “I'm running a half marathon, I'm excited. You know, the energy is ridiculous in this place. I love Cuba.” Smith was in Havana as part of his 50th birthday celebrations 💘🇨🇺✨

Bust a move✨💃🏻✨ Cuban culture has embraced and birthed many forms of dance, fusing together elements from European, African and native cultures. The contradanza, danzón, mambo, cha-cha-cha, and son all have their roots in the areíto rituals performed by the Taíno peoples, the island’s indigenous population. Other dance traditions brought to the island from West Africa and the Congo basin, gave rise to religious dances like those performed in the Santería, Yuka and Abakuá traditions. Along with their secular counterparts like the rumba. The intoxicating rhythms inevitably lead to the emergence of Latin dance styles in the United States, like the rhumba, which originated on the east coast in the 1930s and salsa, which developed in NYC in the mid-1970s.
