A nice shot of some solid garapa boards. It's a tropical hardwood with a colour that resembles clear cedar when untreated. Unlike cedar it contains no knots, leaving a very smooth and visually appealing deck. Hardwood oil will give a nice honey colour. It's a preferred alternative by our clients who want hardwood but don't like the dark colour of ipe. . . . At the time of this post we're selling it at $3.99/l.ft. which is cheaper than clear cedar. Definitely an option worth pursuing for your personal deck or showing your client if you are a contractor. . . Feel free to dm for more info. . . #garapa #hardwood #ipe #deck #decking #deckbuilding #deckstoronto #carpentry #artisan #tropicalwood

Another great example of the natural colour range that you'll fine in ipe. This selection in particular omits the most extreme ends such as the dark ipe that I posted a few days ago. . . #ipe #hardwood #decking #ipedeck #torontolife #patiolife #carpentry #lumber #deckstoronto

The grain on the Siberian larch reminds me of the rainbow effect that you see on plastic 3D pictures. You know, the ones that can be flipped back and forth to give the illusion of motion. . . Siberian larch is a soft wood that works very well around water. Great material for use as decking or building docks. . . #lumber #deck #decking #dock #torontolife #carpentry #softwood #artisan #deckstoronto #warehouselife #siberianlarch

Once every few dozen boards, we'll receive an exceptionally dark piece of ipe. Most clients don't want the odd dark piece in their deck because it'll be too much of a contrast with the rest of the boards. There's nothing wrong with these dark ones. We've been setting them aside since some people have asked for a few here and there as a way of creating unique designs for their decks. . . If you or anyone you know has made some interesting designs with dark ipe please to not hesitate to dm us with some images. I'd love to share with the world what cool designs can come out of this. . . #ipe #decking #carpentry #artisan #furniture #design #darkwood

I was making my way through our warehouse when I noticed these decking boards. It's a very good example of the range of colours that you can get with ipe. Some people don't like it at first, but I argue that the range of tones is what makes ipe deck great. What do you think? #carpentry #deck #ipe #lumber #ipedeck #deckstoronto #warehouselife #artisan

Siberian larch before we oiled it. Swipe right to take a closer look at some of those insane patterns. I'd love to see someone craft something out of it to display those characteristics. #torontorenovation #lumber #siberianlarch #deck #decking #carpentry #woodworking #warehouse

Siberian larch freshly oiled on one side with Cutek Extreme. Once the decks has been built, it'll be finished on top with more Cutek oil and a nice walnut toner. #softwood #lumber #siberianlarch #larch #artisan #torontorenovation #decks #construction #contractor #workspace #carpentry
