Celebrations are an important part of life. I spent yesterday night in Chi Fu; a very old and small, maze-like village, where dozens of us were following a 67m long, smoking burning incense dragon, serpenting up and down throughout dark and narrow alleys. The dragon would stop at every house door that was open, with a family waiting to greet him. The slithering procession went on until the dragon made a triumphant exit from the village to the main road, where hundreds cheered, while others awaited with 70,000 newly lit incense sticks to replace the dying ones on the dragon's body and start the journey all over again, now on the other side of this community's village. The loud drums and cymbals are still a pounding rythm in my ears and heart, and my smoky red eyes still see the lit dragon even if I close them. Isn't it fantastic the kind of traditions a full Moon and a great legend can create? *A performer turns the great ball of 'fire', which is the greatest desire of a dragon. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #people_infinity #people_and_world #photo_storee_people #hongkong #unlimitedhongkong #zolimahongkong  #timeouthk #reimaginehk  #instahongkong #localiiz #visualhongkong #discoverhongkong #idiscovercitywalks #instagram #capturehongkong #hk24hr #homekong #reframinghk #scmp #midautumnfestival #dragon

Thanks for sharing the story of the festival

A marvelous photo of an incredible celebration! For outsiders like us, Hong Kong conjures skyscrapers and hectic, modern life. Good to see that ancient traditions are still alive--and vibrantly so ❤️
