If someone were to ask how He satisfies and sustains in the daily experience of life, I wonder what our response would be? Are you spending your life with the thought that one day we will be home with our Father? “As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God.” - Psalm 42:1 Title: Coming Home Author: Joseph Stowell
1 Timothy 4:7: “discipline yourself for the purpose of godliness.” As a Christian, how do you discipline yourself? Do you pray? Do you fast? Do you serve, worship or meditate on scripture? The bible teaches us to discipline ourselves. This is what we call spiritual discipline. But, what is Spiritual Discipline? Spritual disciplines are those practices found in Scripture that promote spiritual growth among believers in the gospel of Jesus Christ. The goal of practicing any given discipline is not about doing as much as it is about being: being like Jesus, being with Jesus. Now, don’t get me wrong reading the bible, praying, singing worship songs or attending church service won’t save us. The Bible is clear that salvation is a matter of God’s imparting new life to a person who was dead in his sins. And such new life always manifests itself in changed belief and behavior. One of the reasons we’re so spiritually flabby is that we’re caught up with the temporal. We tend to think that we and others will live forever so we do things as if have a lot of time in our hands. But, what if you have 3 months left on earth or you will die tomorrow? Maybe you’re also thinking you’ve tried hard enough but still you don’t see yourself as a disciplined Christian. Let me tell this to you, discipline comes with hard work. So, start again and discipline youself. If you are in Christ, you can be disciplined through the power of the Holy Spirit that is in you. You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, But on a lampstand And it gives light to all who are in the house. (Matthew 5:14-15 The bible tells us that we are the light of the world. We can give light to people who have troubled lives not because of our own doing but because of Christ who lives in us. And, we cannot hide it! It will always flow in us. So, let the light of God within you show you the souls in trouble out in the darkness, the ones that need your prayers and your encouraging help. You and I are the hands and feet of Messiah in the earth. We are the means by which He most commonly expresses His love, especially to the unsaved or to the afflicted. Grace to you.
Have you ever prayed to God about your dream career? Probably, tonight you told God that you want to be a doctor, a teacher, a book writer or you want to travel the world. Perhaps, you are confused so you asked God about your purpose in life. . The bible describes us as a “jar of clay”. Jars of clay were used as containers to hold water or food. Sometimes these clay pots were used to hold things of greater worth, such as money, jewels, or even parchments. But one thing is for sure, jars of clay were skill-fully created and molded by its creator for whatever purpose it may serve. . For us, God saw us fit to make us containers, clay pots that carry the Gospel. And that’s our purpose! And we weren’t clean clay pots, we weren’t fit for service, we weren’t ready for service. But God washed us. He washed us by the very message that he gives us to carry. The message that God loves sinners. God loves to show mercy on people who don’t deserve it, like you and me. The message that God forgives sins and sinners. The message that God sent Jesus to die the death the we deserved. The message that God has made us his own because of Jesus and will take us to heaven to be with him. . Isn’t it encouraging to know that the power of us in doing our purpose in Christian life is not self-generated, but comes from God Himself? (2 Corinthians 4: 1&7) And so that we don’t become obsessed with ourselves, or become obsessed with our lives, or obsessed with our abilities or obsessed with how we look, he calls us clay pots. He reminds us that the treasure is Jesus, the treasure is the Gospel, we’re just the containers. Next time we ask God of our purpose, I hope that we will be reminded that we are containers of the gospel and that we will always look to the unseen, for the unseen is eternal. •FaithPL #jesus #treasure #gospel #purposedrivenlife
Posting this because of #katespade and #anthonybourdain news. You may not know but SUICIDE is the second largest cause of death worldwide. In Philippines, we have 7 cases a day giving us 1 case every 3 1/2 hours. Yes, suicide is real. Depression is real. And those who suffer from depression don’t want to DIE, they just want to end their problem. Be kind. Learn to listen. • - - - - I also have a word to our brothers and sisters in Christ. If you know someone who have depression. Please don’t just throw out bible verses without hearing them out. I know your intentions are good but sometimes it just makes things worst. Listen and pray for them! ☺️ #suicide #depression Note: Photo isn’t mine.

The bible tells us to set our mind on heavenly things. (Colossians 3:2) But, let’s admit it, it’s so hard to do that. There are many things competing positions in our minds; work, bills, family, friends, social media, etc. Focusing on things above seems like a gigantic task for us. But, I believe God has already given us the ability to do that through the power of the Holy Spirit. So, will our minds be full of things like when to buy that next house, car or cellphone, how much money we make or money in the bank, or to whom can I share Jesus? In other words, will it be your life on earth or your eternal life with Jesus? #jesus #colossians
