This may seem like an odd post 3 days before surgery but it’s been a reflective 9 weeks since I officially received a surgery date and I had incentive and validation to push harder, stronger and try to get some old things back into my life. One being jogging. In the 9 weeks, I started back to walking...just getting back out there again. So simple but if you’d been stuck in bed in so much pain for months it’s a big deal. Initially was my pain better to jump out of bed? No. Did it hurt or feel exhausting during or after? Most days and then some days. Later it just hurt bad once I stopped. And I mean hurt bad. But what I can tell you is that while pushing myself to try for some version of my old fitness level was important to me and felt somewhat impossible, I did it! I committed to it. This is not at all to say eating strict and getting active again fixed my Endometriosis. It hasn’t. 2 more cysts were found in this 9 week time. There were 6 more ER visits with 2 stays. I’m not all better from healthy habits. But it gave me some sense of control again in a body that holds me hostage on too many occasions. I got to get back out there. I went from small walks to jog/walk training for a 10K and I’ve marked several 4 mile journeys weekly seeing my time and mileage improve!! Accomplishment. Pride. It shows my strength and my free will that I will not allow a disease to run my world 24/7. It’s not about the jogging. What’s your thing that can get you feeling more in co trip of your health, body, mind and soul? 💛 Much Love, #chronicillnesscommunity • • • • • • #endometriosis #endowarrior #endofighter #endosister #endometriosisawareness #1in10 #spoonie #chronicfatigue #10krunner #goals #weightlossjourney #healthyrecipes #recipestories #hystersister #hysterectomy #laproscopicsurgery #laproscopicrecovery #knowyourworth #eatclean #fitwithendo #voicesinnumbers #fightforyourhealth #badmedicine #travelwriter #writersofinstagram #quotesforchange #manifesting #spainlife #nevergiveup

Doctor bullying is not OK. You may think: well they know more than me so their arrogance, small snickers under breath to your questions or any ‘attitude’ you receive is not Ok. I have been busy working on an essay on this topic and will let you know the link when I post it live but for now...yes, this. I needed my medical records for insurance reasons but I went through the first few pages and one of the surgeons I met with to discuss my endo (who I declined as my surgeon well before reading this) wrote a few details to my GP after I met with her, as they do here in Canada. They give their assessment/report on the visit as it was a referral. She stated 3 subjective statements with consequences for my future healthcare providers. She stated I refused a hysterectomy (not true), that I was indecisive on a surgery date (no lady, I came to your office to book one) and that I was very dramatic in the office with my pain. This is unethical, unprofessional and a personal judgement call that has gone into my record. I will not be letting this go because there is a little more to this incident with my visit. Nobody needs to stand for this kind of judgement and bullying by a doctor. Was I dramatic with my Endometriosis pain and you, an Endometriosis Surgeon (specialist) is making this kind of a comment? If you have no respect for the women you are treating you need to retire your scalpel and take a seat. 💛 Do not stand for this, ladies. • • • • #endometriosisawareness #endodiet #antiinflammatory #mmjcommunity #trainingfor10k #medicalcannabis #getoutside #thyroidproblems #baddoctors #endofighter #endosisters #hysterectomy #surgeryrecovery #pelvicpainawareness #walkinggoals #hashimotoweightloss #bullying #canadianhealthfail #positivevibes #womenshealth #endospain #spoonieproblems #hashimotosdisease #governmentfundingneeded #thyroidhealing #endometriosis #voicesinnumbers #endofighter

It’s been one of those weeks. So a #repost from yours truly because I’m just that vain! 😂 Kidding...it’s just where my head is and when you’ve had countless ER and hospital stays for 6 months you get angry at such a broken system. My last stay my vitals were hardly checked and no other tests were run because it’s just: her endometriosis. And my surgeon is in another hospital 2 hours away so there seems to be an ethical thing about a different specialist checking in on you? Does this even make sense? Just what is there is something else wrong or a complication because the girl has been waiting for so long while she bleeds internally? Would the same treatment be given to someone with liver or kidney failure? Heart disease? Me thinks not. Me knows not. I call bullshit. • • • • • #endofighter #chronicfatiguesyndrome #invisableillness #1in10 #runtherapy #onemileatatime #endometriosisawareness #mmjcommunity #trainingfor10k #getoutside #fitwithendo #endofighter #endosisters #hysterectomy #surgeryrecovery #pelvicpainawareness #walkinggoals #functionalmedicine #canadianhealthfail #positivevibes #womenshealth #endospain #spoonieproblems #hashimotosdisease #governmentfundingneeded #thyroidhealing #endometriosis #voicesinnumbers #sundayquotes

Home from the hospital for the broke record: pain management with no solutions but to wait. I hope everyone out there is in as little pain today as possible. 😘💛 Thank you for all the support and love. It really means the world and makes this a little more manageable, emotionally. So day 2 in the hospital managing the pain. We all know what that really means. Nevertheless, I’m 12 days until surgery. Not at this hospital. This has been such a long (in my opinion unnecessary) wait and delay. I really believe these things being left so long cause more complications and that is one of my biggest fears while I wait for confirmation and end results from my surgery. • I’ve had the sweetest elderly lady as a roommate this stay. Respectful and not too chatty but swings by my curtain to check and make sure I’m eating my lunch. I feel like I have a surrogate Grandma with me. 😊 A friend of hers came to visit and pray with her today and then her friend came to say hello to me and I could tell she didn’t want to be forceful but had something to say. Religion can be a little heavy in these parts but she wasn’t forcing anything. I’ve always thought myself spiritual, though not religious. She asked if she could pray for me and I said that was OK and then she came back and gave me this little card. I could see her trying to pick out the right one from the corner of my eye. I don’t know her and she doesn’t know me but this was a kind act of compassion and I am thankful for the little things during hard times when you keep wondering why things have gone the way they have. See, my pants are a little less cranky than yesterday. 💛 • • • • • #hope #spirituality #tobetterdays #hospitallife #thankful #kindpeople #goodnurses #systemneedswork #endometriosis #endometriosissurgery #endometriosisawareness #endosister #endowarrior #keepfighting #chronicillness #hashimotosdisease #stillstrong #iwillbeok #10ktraining #needaspaday #medicalmarijuana #rainydays #visitingangels #universequotes #cystpain #womenshealthmatters #voicesinnumbers

This is not a good day. I’ve really done quite well managing this non-stop pain by coming at endo full steam ahead the last month but last night it was just too much and so I sit in the hospital, admitted from ER to ‘manage’ my pain, again. Is anyone else sick of ‘managing’ their pain? The nurses have been so kind but I am tired of the strong meds. I’m tired of waiting. I’m tired of the sick girl’s reflection in the mirror. She’s not me. There is actually nothing invisible about my endo anymore. My eyes are heavy, my face swells from some of the meds, I walk carefully to protect one side of my body. I look sick most days. I’m afraid this surgery has been delayed for so long that more damage is being done as this disease strangles my ovaries. I’m angry a woman’s pain is not considered urgent enough to remove a continuing growing cyst and free fluid sooner rather than later. I will dust myself off again soon and be the advocate cheerleader I want to be, but for today I’m warn down and out. #notsoinvisible 💛 • • • • • #endometriosisawareness #endodiet #antiinflammatory #mmjcommunity #trainingfor10k #medicalcannabis #getoutside #thankfulforgoodnurses #fitwithendo #endofighter #endosisters #hysterectomy #surgeryrecovery #pelvicpainawareness #walkinggoals #hashimotoweightloss #functionalmedicine #canadianhealthfail #positivevibes #womenshealth #endospain #tuesdaythoughts #spoonieproblems #hashimotosdisease #governmentfundingneeded #thyroidhealing #endometriosis #voicesinnumbers #fuckendo

Sharing a post that @endowarriorsswfl shared a few days back. Thanks girl! This is such a true statement. 200 million of us?! I actually am not bothered that the general public doesn’t know much about this disease because I don’t know about every disease that others may have not because I don’t care, but it’s human nature that if it doesn’t impact us or those we love we don’t focus on it. What bothers me is that such little is known by researchers, scientists and medical professionals. The bandaid hormonal therapies and combination of pain meds are slapped on as a way to function or ‘help’ mask it. Drugs in the categories that have symptoms related to other organ complications, mental health and dangerous addiction possibilities. If I play the conspiracy theory card...👀 right? 200 million women...that we know of. 💛💪🏽😤 • • • • • #endometriosis #endometriosisawareness #endosister #endofighter #endowarrior #endosurgery #endorscovery #hysterectomyrecovery #postop #chronicillness #pelvicfloordysfunction #constantpain #drugbandaids #thisisbull #fuckendo #keepfighting #getoutside #antiinflammatorydiet #walkinggoals #10krun #healthfirst #fibromyalgia #naturehikes #yogaforpelvicfloor #yogainspiration

Happy #weekend! I’m just about 2 weeks to surgery after officially deciding I am going ahead with it this past week during my post-op appointment I requested. Am I confident this will take my pain away? Not entirely. Hoping for 6-12 months or 50% improvement. Am I hopeful and have exhausted all other options in my know how? Yes. So.... For the next few weeks I’ll be posting things around pre-op prep and post op recovery from my laparoscopic surgery for endo. 2nd Surgery. Different surgeon. I’ll talk more on that in another post. 💛 I’m #askingforsuggestions that have worked for you during recovery time. Of course everyone is different and my first surgery recovery could differ from this one. I know I’ll pretty much be out of it the first few days 😂 but then comes the fun part. 💛 What did you do during recovery that helped or made things worse, looking back? When it’s one of those days? 😬👀✌🏼Oh please let my upcoming surgery explain something, fix something, relieve something, take at least 50% of the pain away and stay away for 6-12 months minimum. #repost - A friendly reminder I needed today. Anyone else? I’ve had my first really really (reallllly) bad pain day today. I’ve been ‘lucky’ for several weeks. (Lucky is a funny word to use with endo) During that time My bad days were hitting around 7/10 but they didn’t consume the entire day. 💛 Today we’re at a 12/10. I’m out. 😓 Brain fog from pain, insomnia, #painsomnia and the likes. But I can’t feel defeated because I have taken steps to improve pain symptoms and have been slowly winning. I’ve been waiting for surgery from acute pain for over 13 damn months!!! So this day as failure is just that. It’s today. I don’t know what tomorrow brings but I’m manifesting strength and back at it tomorrow. 💛 Don’t give up when endo comes back around the corner. We just need to manage that bitch. She’s not allowed to stay. ✌🏼😘 • • • #endometriosisawareness #endodiet #antiinflammatory #mmjcommunity #trainingfor10k #medicalcannabis #getoutside #thyroidproblems #fitwithendo #endofighter #endosisters #hysterectomy #surgeryrecovery #pelvicpainawareness #walkinggoals #hashimotoweightloss #functionalmedicine #canadianhealthfail #positivevibes #womenshealth #endospain #spoonieproblems #hashimotosdisease #governmentfundingneeded #thyroidhealing #endometriosis #voicesinnumbers #endometriosiseurope

There was a time in my life where I would have said: No way! Don’t want to see just go in and do whatever and fix it. Now, with ALL my research and experiences with this disease I want to know a full play by play of the surgery. Why? It shows your surgeon has confidence and nothing to hide. It helps to explain to the patient, what could not be done and what may need to be done later. It’s evidence based (on your specific situation) since we can’t fully see what endo is doing on any other form of diagnostic testing to date. 💛 I found a great website with what to ask your doctor pre-surgery as I prep. At times I feel nervous to ask. I like the personality of my new surgeon but I don’t know his ‘work’. We have a right to ask questions. Here’s the link: http://www.gynsurgery.org/gynecology-surgery-preparation/
