Love this message and this is why I entered the #1stphormathletesearch ! I may not be a personal trainer, dietician, bodybuilder or expert in the fitness world ... I just want to HELP people & INSPIRE people to not give up on their goals/ dreams. We all have obstacles in our way my hope & goal is to help people work through those. Share a smile today😊 Ever notice how if you smile at someone they will smile back, or if you say hello to someone, they will say it back. My hospital system I work for acquired another one and recently we had a bunch of new coworkers join our building. A shy person my self whose office is in the corner (basically you would only walk by my door if you were coming to mine or my boss’ offices) I knew I had to make point to go out of my way and personally introduce myself and reach out and shake a hand if I wanted to meet these people. Due to the small niche department I am in it is doubtful I really will have any interaction with these people so for me it was just a way to be warm and welcoming. ⭐️my point .... Live the life you want to see... if you want to be surrounded by positivity...be positive. If you want kindness ...be kind. How to stay on plan with junk food in the house. It might be a simple thing for some people to say just don’t have it in the house but if you live with someone (a spouse, kid, parent) it might not be that easy. ⭐️ So how do I make it work... 1) How bad do you want it... I am not going to sit here and tell you it is easy because there are nights after my son is asleep I think about having one piece of candy or one cookie ... but then I think about how much I want my goals more. 2)I have the mindset I bought them for him. Might sound silly but sometimes I have to tell myself Jenn you bought those for Alexander ... not yourself 3)There will ALWAYS be cookies and candy in the world .... so skipping for a month or months isn’t that big a deal ... Ugh I totally lost my cool today and I hate it. My work is stressful Being a single mom is stressful The last thing I need to stress out about is the gym and that happened today. Due to the seasonal business of my job right now working 50+ hours a week & being a mom my rest days are carefully calculated & today wasn’t one of them. Church is important to me so when I over slept this morning I felt rushed to get ready for church but Alexander & I made it in record time just to find out my garage door was broken & we were stuck inside our house. Having my dad help me at least get my car out pushed back our church time... then not wanting to throw of Alexander’s lunch and nap schedule I got pissed bc I would have to skip my workout (not really at anyone just the situation) I knew I wouldn’t make it to the gym before his lunch (kids club would be long closed after his nap so that wasn’t an option either) ⭐️Goals are important but my son will always come first - that’s just the mom I am⭐️ The whole time in church I felt on edge about potentially missing my workout. Things are different now ... last year when I started lifting regularly my training was just more “me time” and strength focused. If I missed no biggie ....or if I ate off plan I didn’t care. Even while “bulking”I had the same mindset it was important but I wasn’t super focused. So what’s different ... not going to call it prep (yet😉) lets just call it “pre-prep”🤣 everything is super calculated. My macros, my lifting, my HIIT, my once a week steady state cardio.... I feel I NEED to be consistent with everything so that going into prep my coach will no what to adjust. This is so different from marathon training ... if it rained one weekend and I missed my long run - no biggie I just adjusted the next weekend but this leaves no room for error or falling off plan. I know this is just the beginning & prep won’t be easy but just got to take it one day at a time - haha and try to keep my shit together 🤦🏻‍♀️ Luckily my angel of a mom offered to watch Alexander during his nap🙌🏻♥️

Don’t be afraid to ask for help. I used to be the girl who never asked for help. Everything changed when I became a full time single mom (I have my son 100%). I quickly realized to survive I will need to not only take help that is offered but also ask. ⭐️ So I try to workout 5 days a week . Depending on the activities I have planed for my son or my work schedule dictates really why my rest days are but I usually can get 5 days in. Well this week was extremely busy at work too many lunch time meetings where I was only going to be able to make a lunch time workout twice this week happen, with the weekend I was hoping to get one more day in. So I asked my parents if I could have a night of their choosing they could pick up my son from daycare so I could get a workout in after work. They gladly said yes!🙌🏻 ⭐️ No I don’t do this weekly or even regularly but the option is there is I need it. ⭐️ My point - I have heard / seen so many parents give up on their goals when they become parents. Yeah I get it finding a good blend of parenting and time for yourself is hard but if you are willing to ask for help every now and then it gets so much easier 🙌🏻 ⭐️Don’t be afraid to ask for help really in any situation (regardless if it’s training related or not). I feel an overwheling responsibility to show my little man what it means to be strong. I'm the example he sees everyday. I'm hard on myself because I know that even with the best intent, I make mistakes. But then I gently remind myself--"Jenn--it's not about being perfect--it's about living authentically, & showing him how to develop the resilience, confidence, & inner strength to get back up after a challenge." ⭐️ Those are the type of values I want him to learn from me. The type of strength that can never be taken away from him. The strength of a warrior. The desire for him to envelop those qualities is what drives me to live them myself. #tranformationtuesday Now that my “bulk” period is over I can’t wait to see what the final product will be post cut 💪🏻. When I started this 8 months ago I honestly didn’t know what to expect. As a full time working single mom, gym isn’t my number one priority. These two versions of me weigh the same ...crazy perspective of why I don’t base my life around a number on the scale anymore. The dreaded scale. We get so caught up in a number and we give it so much power over whether or not we are successful in a weight loss journey. It’s easy to get so hung up on the scale & forget all of the other progress. For example, getting through a whole workout without stopping, being able to run further than when you started, feeling less winded as you go up the stairs, increasing your weights, lasting longer holding a plank, the fact that your clothes fit differently, the fact that you are working so hard in making great choices in food, increased your water intake ect.... We expect the scale to move & prove something to ourselves. We can easily go from feeling proud to feeling so disappointed. We let a number erase so much good. Believe me I have been there regardless of how hard I hit the gym my success was defined to me by what the scale said. We need to trust what changes we see in photos, trust how friends & family see us & comment on the progress they see, trust how our clothes fit ... don’t trust the scale. My point is. If you are like I was and let a number define your success. It is time to re-evaluate your relationship with the scale. Really think about if weighing yourself makes sense. Work hard, eat well, hide the scale. If it’s emotional hang up for you. Ditch it. Remember you are crushing it your body will change. The number doesn’t give you worth. YOU DO. Take the pieces out of your life that do not serve you. Keep going. Why do they say you get an extra hour of sleep???? Even before I was a parent it was always an extra hour of work / things I had to do🤷🏻‍♀️ Not going to lie I hands down didn’t want to meal prep today. It has been an exhausting week & weekend .... I spent Alexanders entire nap yesterday cleaning & doing laundry (lots of laundry - #momlife ). After not getting much sleep last night I desperately wanted to put my feet up & start watching season 8 of walking dead since it is now on Netflix. (It’s probably been out for a while but I don’t get much tv time) . But as a mom regardless of goals if I don’t meal prep It pretty much means not eating. My lunches at work are spent either working out, in meetings, or getting more work done so I take home less which means I don’t have the luxury of time to go out for lunch. My morning routine involves getting a toddler up & ready for the day which takes time so I need breakfast already made so I can eat first thing before my son wakes up or right when I get to work without any prep time. Dinners I try to eat the same thing as my son 😊 but some nights I pick my battles & when he asks for pizza I give it to him & I have a dinner that fits my macros. 💙 ⭐️ I get it being a parent is demanding & at times exhausting... the first couple months after my son was born & I was back to work I was picking up fast food (Taco Bell🤤) regularly on my way home from work bc it was convenient. Before I even started training again I started investing time in meal prep just to be able to put good food into my body. ⭐️ If you take the time to make healthy choices your body will thank you! For this who are struggling to make working out a priority (aka “finding time”) Here is an idea that might help you kick start making a habit of it. ⏰Don’t fall back tomorrow⏰ I have heard a lot of parents say if only I could wake up early I would work out before work/ taking the kids to school. Believe me I get it. I have tried a few times when my parents have offered to babysit working out after my son is in bed & the energy/ motivation is just not there.😴.... or I find so many chores/ projects that need to be done they consume my attention ⏰ For me early morning workouts (before I had my son) were part of my routine for the following reasons: 1)it energized me for the rest of the day 2)I could check it off as accomplished & not have to worry about it later fitting it in... or if I had a work deadline creep up on me or anything else I might not be able to fully control —I already had my workout done 3)as long as I could make it out of bed & dressed - I wasn’t going to go back to bed so even on days when I rode the struggle bus I got my workout in... what else was I going to do with that time? ⏰ so making early morning workouts work is all about habit....so tomorrow your body’s clock will already be used to waking up daily at the same time - don’t adjust it. Say you normally wake up at 5 for work every day ... because of falling back 4am will feel like 5.... so try getting up at 4. You can use that extra hour to get a workout in. ⏰ So I know what you are thinking ... Jenn I sleep in on Sundays ... Jenn I need more than an hour to workout / commute to the gym .... Jenn this won’t work. ⭐️But at some point you have to say to yourself if you have been struggling ... #fearlessfriday Ok so hear goes nothing ... back In January I started the #mytransphormation challenge with the hopes of getting on stage & competing in a show sometime this year. After 30 days in (and the leanest I had ever been👍🏻) I met with a coach who basically said I could easily get lean enough but I was just too tiny to have any real shot of doing well.... so I began bulking. As this was my first time taking on this task diet was very much trial and error. I knew I had to put on some fat with muscle however to be honest I personally think I might have put on too much fat in proportion to muscle -although not complaining about the muscle at all 💪🏻 ⭐️ Anyways flash forward to now looking forward to 2019 I decided to attempt a cut to see how my body will respond so I have time to adjust before some goal shows I have in mind next year 💪🏻 ⭐️ Long story short.... I have jumped back in to the @1stphorm my Transphormation challenge for their fall sprint 🙌🏻 Excited, nervous, & a bit scared to see where I will go in the next 8 weeks. #tbt 3 years ago today pregnant running the trails with my peanut😊. I had no idea at the time how many races we would actually accomplish together. Sure I had dreams / goals / hopes but I had no idea what to expect. Being pregnant was a whole new fitness journey and almost like starting day one with new challenges and limitations. So I just approached it as one day at a time and keeping putting one foot in front of each other. We ran a lot together ... and I was able to run my last half marathon at 34 weeks pregnant! 🙌🏻 Believing in yourself is half the battle.
