There are many times in my life where I don't feel worthy. I get comfortable because I feel as if where I'm at now is good enough. Why do I need to strive for more when my life is just fine how it is now? . Just because things are "fine" doesn't mean that I'm not worthy of so much more (or even better yet capable of so much more) . But, God created me for a reason. #snowpacalypse reflections 🤣 Here in the STL we were recently hit with around 10 inches of snow (give or take a few depending on where you live) I shoveled once Friday night as the snow kept falling and the a second time Saturday. . I could have easily left it all till Saturday but figured clearing half of it to start would make my load half as easy come Saturday morning . . My point .... there are times where tasks feel overwhelming but just taking the action to start (even knowing you won’t accomplish your goal initially or totally) you are at least making progress and any progress is better than no progress. . How do you visualize your goals?There is a great importance of picturing yourself succeeding before you actually do in reality. I think the power of visualization can be extremely effective when harnessed & used correctly. When you think of a big goal or dream that you want to achieve, it’s natural to think of all of the obstacles that will come your way. The problem is far too often we allow these obstacles to become so big in our minds that it inhibits us from moving forward and our dream stays just that.. “a dream”. This is when many become satisfied with mediocrity. I fully believe in the power of visualization… but not just “if you dream it you can achieve it” That actually in my mind is a load of crap. I think real visualization entails…. What will it take? What sacrifices will you make? How can you handle any obstacles? The key is to 1) make your positive vision stronger than anything that can set you back 2) know that it will take work… and actually HARD work in most cases. Here is a new task I am trying to do every day (yes everyday) I spend about 10 to 15 minutes a day thinking about a current goal (it is a pretty big one so I can easily spend 15 minutes doing this), but like I said I just don’ t picture achieving it. I picture what my timeline looks like to get there. What obstacles might derail me, & how I could handle them. Might be the nerd 🤓 in me but I get as detailed as possible, often taking notes or jotting down ideas. I picture what I will do once my goal is reached, how amazing it will feel, & what my next steps would be after my goal is achieved (setting new goals from there). I love this new almost habit of putting together a positive vision into my everyday life. I believe this visualization will be a pivotal part of being successful at reaching my goal. I often get comments like, "I don't know how you stay fit AS A MOM", or I don’t know how you have time to workout AS A MOM” & my answer is always, "It's BECAUSE I'm a Mom that I make the time. . Before not saying it wasn’t a priority but I didn’t value working out the same as I do now because I always had the time and or opportunity. Either first thing in the morning or after work at night , besides my pup I had no other daily obligations, even when I went back to grad school- it was still easily something I could always fit in. I didn’t have to worry about kids clubs being open or nap/ bed time, or finding a babysitter, ect. . It goes without saying that everyone should exercise regularly for our overall health, kids or no kids, but for me becoming a Mom, especially, brought the discipline into my routine and made it a priority. . My gym time not only is my “me time” but it also is my source of energy during a time when I am more often than not physically exhausted. ⭐️More important though than anything else the positive benefits it has had on my mental & emotional state just could not be ignored. . Lastly pre-baby I was mostly motivated by a scale number, post baby & being mom my motivations are about being strong & looking FIT/ lean (yes I believe you can be athletic & not look fit). Before my son I had a I more I am going to “outrun my fork” mentality (which DOES NOT work by the way). I was a marathoner & just lived in the gym more or less & either under ate or just ate whatever I wanted. #tbt ... 3 years ago 25 weeks pregnant . We all struggle to consistently workout ... even the most fitness junkies have off days or days when they think I really don’t want to go. Motivation can be fleeting which is why disciple, having a plan & having the right mindset is important. . Being pregnant I was faced with many obstacles that could have kept me from consistently working out .... fatigue, hormone changes, morning sickness, my rapidly mopping body 🤣 (I gained 65 pounds in total😱). Due to all these things it was important for me to have a strategy in place to keep me going. . Regardless of what your obstacles are having the right mindset can 100% make or break your results.... so here are some pointers 😊 . 1) Remember that working out is worth it. Even if you are just getting 30 min in, you are still making progress, still working, still taking steps to improve your fitness & health. . 2) Find an environment that works for you. Being pregnant I loved group classes (especially boxing @titleboxingclubstcharles). Those days I struggled hard on the #strugglebus I could count on the trainers & members to keep me going. Even before being pregnant it was a group class environment that helped me develop consistency in going regularly. ⭐️ Apart from the people it is also important to do something you like. If you have never liked runnning - don’t try to run. Focus on something that makes you feel good. . 3) Think of exercise as an energy booster. I use this even now. #momlife is EXHAUSTING! There are days where I am so tired but I know how energized I feel after! Even after the most grueling workout (pregnant or not) I always felt great after! . 4)Celebrate your successes! The motivation to start your next workout starts at the end of your last one. Why is it so hard to be authentic on social media? There are so many beautiful people in this world that Instagram has forced into being something they aren't. As a mom who is trying to set an example for my son you will never see me here or anywhere else living a life that is not authentically mine. So... . You will never see me posting a half-naked picture with a shaker bottle bottle because that’s not who I am. . You will never see me promote a product just because or to try to make money. Anything I “promote” is because of a love of the product. I feel it’s more recommendation & why I love it than anything. I promise you -I will never promote a product unless I believe in them 110%. . You will never see me selling fitness programs or becoming an online coach anytime (in the relative future) because I don’t have the knowledge or certifications to do that. Yes I do have a lot of knowledge from experience but nothing that would ever make me comfortable selling any kind of coaching, training, or weight loss program. . You will rarely see me posting workout videos. However this to be honest is something I would like to work on. But I either workout on my lunch break or with my son at the kids club at my gym. Both situations I am looking at my watch the whole time making sure I don’t run short on time or I am not there too long. I don’t really have even the few minutes or extra luxury gym time to make sure my camera is set up at the right angle or even to really put it in position. I am there to get in and get out.💪🏻 . I just want to help, inspire, & motivate because I feel like it represents who I am. So I like to write long captions of things that help me or experiences I have been through in hopes it helps, inspire, or motivates others in some way. ⭐️THIS is who I AM😊 . It's so easy to get caught up in Instagram algorithms & statistics & be concerned with who or who is not following you. People can easily lose sight of who they truly are.
