**Staff Profile** It’s time we showcased some of the talent behind the team at Fitzroy Stretches! Meet @tomferson . When he’s not stretching canvases or making hard boards, he’s creating painstakingly detailed and beautiful paintings in his Brunswick studio. . . . 📷 1 : Two’s A Party (Two’s A Crowd)’ Acrylic on polyester, by Tom Ferson. 2018 📷 2. It is time to say goodbye to the Sydney Contemporary for another year! Here are two of our amazing customers - @juan_ford_art and @kevin_chin_art . Congratulations to all the artists who exhibited ! . 1. Juan Ford - 'Mesmeriser' 2. Kevin Chin - 'Blue Above' (detail)
Put your feet up (in the studio) this overcast Sunday! @austyn photographed in her LA studio by @gwenoneil #studiosunday
Bill Posters is innocent! #tb to an old school FS poster! 🤙
So. Many. Hard boards. Give this silky smooth surface a try for your next painting - you won’t regret it.
We have been lucky enough to stretch artworks by the talented Kaylene Whiskey and if you’re going to Sydney Contemporary you will be lucky enough to see her exhibit with @blackartprojects! 💛 #sydneycontemporary #kaylenewhiskey
We love this shot of FS customer and wonderful artist Oscar Perry photographed by @miamalamcdonald lounging back in his studio! #studiosunday for this gloomy Spring day.
🥊🏆 Langridge VS Gamblin - both in our mid price point category and both beautiful artist quality paints. S4 Cadmium Orange comes in at $35.02 in the Gamblin corner and $35.20 for Langridge. Gamblin hailing from the United States and Langridge an Australian battler. A noble battle that will ultimately come down to your personal preference! #ausvsusa
~ Feature artist 😍 ~ Look at the detail in @chelsea_gustafsson 's painting Marine Debris, 2018. Acrylic and oil on board 50cm x 40cm. To achieve super fine detail like this, try one of our double gesso' d hardboards. It's like painting on glass!
The many uses of WEDGES! They help keep your canvas tight and if you feel that over time your artwork has become a little slack try knocking the wedges. They also keep the frame at a right angle! By measuring across each of the diagonals you can work out which side needs to be adjusted and with a little knock on the wedge it will straighten it right up!
When there’s a will, there’s a way! If you have a framing idea come on in and have a chat with our wonderful team and we can help make it a reality! This fantastic piece by @madbish_ for her exhibition @crowther_contemporary that opens THIS Friday 6-9pm. 🎨⭐️ #creativeframing
The best thing about our job is being able to support (literally) some of our favourite Australian artists. @kevin_chin_art wrapping up a painting to be exhibited @sydneycontemporary with @martinbrownecontemporary. Be sure to check him out! #customframes
Let’s start the week with a colourful BANG! American artist Keith Haring (1958 - 1990) holding outsize paintbrushes in his studio, New York City, 1985. (Photo by Janette Beckman/Getty Images) 🎨💥
Stretcher bars waiting patiently to be stretched!
One wedge in, one wedge out. Sounds like #auspol! We will not be making a tutorial on how to be PM (unfortunately) but we will show you how to bang a wedge in a canvas!
Who else loves receiving the latest Art Almanac and planning their month of shows? There's too much to see! . . . . . . @artalmanac
