First 10K in almost 3 years! • Today had 4.5 miles on the plan and I haven’t deviated much from the mileage each week, but I had an opportunity to try for some un-rushed bonus miles today for a change and I shot for “time on feet” training. • First almost 5 miles were steady eddy and then the ☀️ and lack of water caught up with me and I dialed it back to alternating walking and running as I planned. • Super pleased with that effort! My pace felt easy breezy for 4 solid miles until I started to heat up, but even then my legs never ached or had pangs through the entire run. SUCH an improvement with my strength training! • I know I need to start planning hydration and fuel into my long runs, and am looking into hydration packs. If anyone has some brands or styles they love, please give me your recommendations!! • Grateful to have the opportunity to do what I love, in the country I love, because of those who have paid the ultimate price to protect our freedoms. #80dayobsession Day 42: Leg Day ✅ • 2 miles of speed work on the treadmill immediately after • Holy smokes-my gams are jello today!! • I honestly should have done the weights AFTER my run but just couldn’t make that work out with nap time today. • Legs were like lead but still pushed myself while rocking out to Broadway tunes in my basement. 2 miles of hill intervals for breakfast ✅ • #80dayobsession Day 40 Cardio Core ✅ • Ahhh hill training, something I severely neglected in my prior long distance running. Mainly because I struggle with it and getting my heart rate under control. • Bit of a #tuesdaytransformation in its own right, hills and speed being a part of my training when 4 years ago I strictly focused on distance. • Today was hard, but well worth my efforts in the long run! • Shoutout to Michelle over at @runnin_on_fumes for her timely post about warm up drills today. Bumped yesterday’s 3 miles to tonight after I got back from a overnight trip to Chicago. • Lots of time sitting in the car and at a concert last night had my hips tiiiiiight. #80dayobsession Day 36 Legs! ✅ • 2 miles on plan ✅ • Today’s theme was definitely #momlife! Ortho appointment for my oldest this morning threw the day off for naps and someone decided he wanted Mom during my one window this afternoon to get leg day done between school pick ups. 3 miles in the ☀️ and I was cookin’ afterwards!! (When you’re skin and your socks match, you know it was a hot one!😂) • Bit of a soup sandwich, this run, but still miles in the bank, all said and done. • Thought I would test the waters for a faster pace under harder conditions (heat is my nemesis) only to burn out by 1.5 miles. Heart rate wouldn’t come down and I was almost sick in someone’s lawn 🤭🤦🏼‍♀️ • Ah well, nothing ventured, nothing gained right? 😂 • Eventually my “make ya puke” pace will be my “steady eddy” pace. #80dayobsession Day 32 Cardio Flow ✅ • 4 miles on plan ✅ • Body felt like it needed an extra rest day yesterday so I took it and skipped a workout. I think it paid off as my legs felt fresh for today’s long run and I even shaved some time off my last 5K record from Thursday • Today’s run was blissful and it had me thinking about a few months ago when I was still struggling to run for 20 minutes without stopping.
