#transformationtuesday Nov 2017: 1 month postpartum-> Nov 2018: 13 months postpartum • I remember snapping that pic on the left and thinking about where I would be at in a year’s time. Surely I would have dropped every last pregnancy pound. I would have a marathon under my belt. I wouldn’t still look like a “before” pic. • Boy was I wrong, but even better, I don’t care. Yep, still over my pre-pregnancy weight. Still on the hunt for my first 26.2. Still not flexing rock hard abs or chiseled biceps yet. Instead, I have 13 straight months of breastfeeding under my belt (my first time making it to a full year!!) I am healthy, active and at peace with my body. I have two shiny 1/2 marathon medals and a 10K PB, and stayed injury free during training. And best of all-I have re-discovered my joy of running all while keeping those 4 hooligans alive (for better or worse 😉) • My “after” may always look like someone else’s “before” but none of that matters when I think of how happy I am with myself and all that I accomplished this year. I can’t wait to see what I can do next year! • So for all the mamas out there who aren’t exactly where they thought they’d be just yet, don’t give up. #flatlay ✅ and final #shakeout✅ before @madisonmarathon 1/2 marathon tomorrow! • Seeing as winter officially arrived this week and tomorrow’s temp won’t break freezing before I am hopefully crossing the finish line, I had to scramble to find some new gear (I don’t mind chilly legs but my ninny sensitive skin would not appreciate roughly 3 hours of exposure) 24 degrees is going to feel a little brisk tomorrow at 7:00 AM! 😂❄️ • Good luck to everyone racing and I am so excited for tomorrow! 3.10 miles tonight ✅ and a #liift4 #latergram from Back and Biceps on Wednesday ✅ • My race training plan has been out the window but managed a quick 3 to clear the cobwebs thanks to my sister for holding down the fort with the kiddos. • This week my feed has been filled with people planning their 2019 racing schedule. With only two weeks left until what was supposed to be my 1st full marathon, I’ve found the idea of planning more distance races completely overwhelming. And it isn’t just because I am fatigued from 30 weeks of training. Tonight I realized that while running on a regular basis brings me sanity as a SAHM of 4, training for races does NOT. At least not during this season and not the way I thought it would. • While I thought I would enjoy the challenge of having “goals” to train for and to keep me motivated, the reality of the sheer amount of time I have to spend away from my family in order to train for long distances races (especially given that I am a slower runner and a double digit run means hours away for me) is something that stresses me out, instead of fueling or motivating me. • I’m all about supporting marathon mama runners and ladies throwing down crazy miles and challenges while juggling life and babies and work. I’m first in line to cheer on these women who just crush their individual goals and they are utterly inspiring and motivating to me. I do aspire to run a marathon someday. I’ve just realized that my passion for running isn’t the same as theirs, at least not right now, and I think it took a while for me to realize that’s ok. I’m just happy to be out of the house, moving my body and connecting with nature. I actually dread races and only really do them because, well, that’s what you do as a runner, right? How else do you prove you are a runner without a medal or finishers shirt? But in reality, I’ve never had a post race high that equals the sense of freedom I feel running my favorite trails while solo, and I’m not sure why I think I HAVE to race 🤷🏼‍♀️ • I’ll line up in a couple of weeks with the only goal of enjoying myself and table all future races for a good long while. ✌🏻 • #motherrunner #mywhy #irunthisbody #running

Currently half way through a crazy stretch of extended drill weekend and doubles for my husband, plus a busy week of conferences and a birthday for one kiddo, so I’m just doing what I can, where I can.
