Lots to do in 2018 2018 has started well with domestic travel and a major change to my blog, HenrikTravel.com. It is now both a travel search engine and blog. I have also changed my name on social media from Henrik Jeppesen to HenrikTravel.com for traffic purposes. I still have things to do on the site before I plan to focus on traffic, but I like it a lot already. Besides working on the blog, I am planning to leave Denmark and become a full-time traveller again later in the year. In the meantime, I have done some domestic travel including a return to Wake Up Aarhus, a great budget hotel in Aarhus, where I stayed a month last year. I've been surprised many times in my travels, and recently got a big surprise again. Hotel Thinggaard in Hurup, Thy (@hotelthinggaard) . Thy is the area of Denmark where I was born and grew up, but I had never visited Hotel Thinggaard until my recent visit. My room was comfortable with complimentary Wi-Fi, Tv, bed and standalone shower, but what surprised me was the dinner. It was better than several dining experiences I've had at Michelin-restaurants. The service was kind and professional, and the attention to details was unlike anywhere in or near Thy I have ever been. Different kinds of butter, bread, an impressive menu that change often and all at a reasonable price for this level of gourmet food. It was a bit like one of the @RelaisChateaux experiences I've had. Comfort in your room with amazing food as the highlight. Besides this, I also enjoyed my visit to Sydthy Kurbad (@sydthykurbad), a wellness centre with great facilities, a few minutes walk from the hotel. I will definitely return to Hotel Thinggaard in the future and share more about the experience on my blog soon. Photo 1: Gammel Estrup Manor, around 50 kilometres north of Aarhus, a beautiful place I visited a few weeks ago. Photo 2: One of the great dishes at Hotel Thinggaard. Marselisborg Palace, Aarhus, the summer residence of Queen Margrethe II of Denmark since 1967. I recently stayed a month in Aarhus at the hotel, Wake Up Aarhus, a comfortable, modern hotel with a central location, free high-speed internet and rates starting as low as 400DKK per night. #traveldeeper #travelstroke #vacation #holiday #traveller #traveler #tourist #solotravel #getaway #travelblog #instago #travelpics #wanderer #travelphoto #travelingram #mytravelgram #travels #aroundtheworld #worldplaces #worldingram #travelbug #travelgoal

Update: Good to be back in Denmark - Lots to do After a good month-long stay at Wake Up Aarhus, I travelled to three new territories. Abkhazia, Guadeloupe and Montserrat in November and December last year. I am now back in Denmark with a lot of things to do after the trips. I want to get a book out this year about my journey to every country in the world and the 101 territories so far. Instagram allows up to 10 photos per post so I thought I would do a slideshow of some photos I didn't post on Instagram in 2017. Photo 1: View from Himmelbjerget, Denmark, approximately 40 kilometres from Aarhus. A photo I took last summer after my European road trip. Photo 2: The room I stayed for one month at Wake Up Aarhus, one of the best budget hotels I have stayed. Clean, comfortable, great location and excellent WiFi. Photo 3: Church in Abkhazia. Big thanks to @caucasus_explorer for showing me this territory. Tip: Cheap flights to Kutaisi (with @wizzaircom) around two hours drive from the border. Necessary to do online registration to visit Abkhazia, except a few passport holders with visa-free travel. Photo 4: Swimming pool with a view at Le Jardin Malanga @lejardinmalanga in Guadeloupe, one of the best places to stay there. For a review and more photos please visit my website. Photo 5: My room at Auberge de La Vieille Tour. Another good place to stay in Guadeloupe. Photo 6-10: The beautiful island of Montserrat. One of my new favourites destinations in the Caribbean with Saba, St. Barth and Dominica. #traveldeeper #travelstroke #vacation #holiday #traveller #traveler #tourist #solotravel #getaway #travelblog #instago #travelpics #wanderer #travelphoto #travelingram #mytravelgram #travels #aroundtheworld #worldplaces #worldingram #travelbug #travelgoal

Belmond Le Manoir Aux Quat'Saisons @belmondlemanoir - A member of @RelaisChateaux with 2 Michelin Stars @michelinguide Charming rooms, amazing food and great service. Tip: If you like European country hotels with excellent food like I do, I would highly recommend this hotel and: Ballyfin, Ireland. Chewton Glen, United Kingdom. Landgoed Het Roode Koper, The Netherlands. Manoir «Inter Scaldes», The Netherlands. Falsled Kro, Denmark. Relais Borgo Santo Pietro, Italy. Il Pellicano, Italy. To just name a few. #traveldeeper #travelstroke #vacation #holiday #traveller #traveler #tourist #solotravel #getaway #travelblog #instago #travelpics #wanderer #travelphoto #travelingram #mytravelgram #travels #aroundtheworld #worldplaces #worldingram #travelbug #travelgoal #theuk

Beautiful National Park Thy, near Stenbjerg. Visited recently and stayed at Stenbjerg Kro in a beautiful bungalow. Stenbjerg Kro focuses on local ingredients from the national park itself. Montserrat. Last territory in the Caribbean for me. Big thanks to Gingerbread Hill, the highest ranked hotel in Montserrat on TripAdvisor for telling me about the Talamanca boat from Guadeloupe. I also stayed at the hotel for two nights and had a great time. It saved me a lot of money going with the Talamanca instead of flying via Antigua from Guadeloupe. It was a beautiful journey by the boat with friendly staff. You can find more info about the Talamanca at www.talamanca.fr Montserrat is a beautiful island with friendly people. I felt very welcome and would add Montserrat to my list of Caribbean favourites including Saba, St. Barth and Dominica.

French Guiana for the second time I have visited every country in the world with the next project being all the territories. Back in November, I visited both the capital of Cayenne and Kourou in my second visit to French Guiana in South America. I couldn't get a hotel sponsored, and other options were too expensive, so I spent the night in a cheap hammock in Kourou. Big thanks to Glenn, Oetsi Tours for showing me around, making this photo possible.

Another photo from my day trip to the island of Læsø. @visitnordjylland How to get there: 1. Ferry from Frederikshavn. Tickets: Laesoe-Line.dk Or 2. Seasonal flights from Roskilde and Anholt. Starting again on March 23rd. Tickets: Rutetaxa.dk

Day Trip to Læsø. Less than 2,000 people live on the small Danish island of Læsø, Nordjylland, Denmark. @visitnordjylland I decided not to bring a car to the island as it was much cheaper travelling without one. I managed to hitchhike twice and, despite the rain, take several good photos including this one.

South Georgia Island in the Atlantic Ocean. One of my favourite places in the world. Isn't this just amazing? Today it's been four weeks since I moved into the hotel, Wake Up Aarhus. It's a great city and a nice hotel, but I miss travelling. I want to visit more places on my bucket list over the coming months. I am planning to visit a new territory next week and a lot more this upcoming winter. I look forward to the many experiences and sharing lots of great photos with you. Have a nice weekend, everyone. Travel tip/ad: Travel abroad without data? Tripian is said to be the only app to find nearby places, get instant directions and navigate your plans offline. My Top 5 Favourite Restaurants I have experienced more than 100 gourmet restaurants and have recently added some to my list of favourites. Here's a top 5 in no particular order. Photo 1: The Test Kitchen, Cape Town. A unique experience that started in "The Dark Room" with drinks and appetisers before going to "The Light Room" for the courses. Fantastic food and excellent food. An overall wonderful experience and not that expensive compared to the average price of three Michelin-starred restaurants in Europe. The Test Kitchen is ranked the best restaurant in Africa by the award, The World's 50 Best Restaurants. Photo 2:  Manoir Inter Scaldes, The Netherlands, countryside. An Outstanding dining experience at their two Michelin-starred restaurant. High level of food, creativity and service. A lot of local produce and a wine list with many organic wines especially impressed me. Photo 3: La Grande Maison de Bernard Magrez, Bordeaux. Excellent food, attention to details and a lot of creativity. Got two stars the first year they were rated by Michelin, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they get a third star next year. Photo 4: &Samhoud Places, Amsterdam. A fantastic gastronomic experience in Amsterdam. This two Michelin-starred restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere, open kitchen and excellent service from the passionate staff. Photo 5: Le Relais Bernard Loiseau, Saulieu, France. Excellent food and professional service. Two stars are not enough. They deserve a third based on my knowledge and experience in gourmet restaurants. Creativity and taste match the three-star Michelin restaurants I’ve experienced.

Update: Still 34 Territories Left After completing my project of visiting every country in the world, my main travel goal is to visit every territory in the world. I still have 34 left on the list as I have focused on European travel lately. I am in no rush of trying to complete the list as I don't know if I can ever visit Wake Island, Midway Island and the British Indian Ocean Territory. Wake and Midway are part of the United States, and as I have been to Syria (among other countries on their list), I can't visit America like I used to. I am not allowed to arrive on the ESTA, but will instead have to apply at an embassy manually. About a five hour trip each way from my current home. It's just time-consuming and annoying. To my understanding, no other country has implemented a policy that visitors to Iran, Iraq, Sudan, or Syria since March 2011, can't visit their country. My travel plans for the near future is to focus on Denmark, shorter trips within Europe and new territories when it makes sense. Most of them are in the Pacific, and it doesn't make sense to go all the way there only to tick off one or two. It requires a lot of planning. Instagram is not a good platform for text-only, so here is a slideshow of ten of the properties I have stayed this year. Thorskogs Slott, Sweden A beautiful Swedish castle close to Gothenburg. Villa Crespi, Italy 1879-property with two Michelin-stars. Hotel Stadt Hamburg, Germany Relais & Châteaux-associated hotel with a classical design on the island of Sylt. Da Vittorio, Italy A good place to stay. An amazing place to dine. Three well-deserved Michelin stars. Hotel Ithurria, France Close to the Spanish border. One Michelin star. Run by two brothers. L'Albereta, Italy 57-room Relais&Châteaux-associated hotel with excellent food. Hostellerie La Butte Aux Bois, Belgium Great service and food. One Michelin star. A member of Relais & Châteaux. Vain Boutique Hotel, Argentina A comfortable boutique hotel in Buenos Aires. Landhaus Stricker, Germany A Relais & Châteaux-associated hotel on the island of Sylt with one Michelin star. La Grande Maison de Bernard Magrez, France Amazing room and food. Two Michelin stars.

My favourite way to travel is by road. It gives you total freedom, and you are in control. You can stop and take photos when you see something beautiful, and you can get to many beautiful places that can be difficult to reach with public transport. Here are ten places I reached this year travelling by car: Château de Jalesnes, France. Interesting chateau hotel. Very nice apartments. No restaurant. Le Relais Bernard Loiseau. World famous hotel. Two Michelin stars. Incredible food. Great service, excellent staff. The hotel is world famous because chef Bernard Loiseau committed suicide after he lost his third star. La Cote Saint Jacques, France. Charming hotel with a two Michelin-starred restaurant located in a small town. Château de Fére, France. A member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World. Manoir de Lan Kerellec, France. Family-owned hotel with one Michelin star. Idala Gård, Sweden. A member of Countryside Hotels. Åhus Gästgivaregård, Sweden. Charming room and great food. Båsenberga Hotell & Konferens, Sweden. Very small, but charming single room. Very quiet place. Villa Källhagen, Stockholm, Sweden. A little feel of countryside within Stockholm. Lovely room. Rosersbergs Slotthotel, Sweden. Castle hotel with beautiful surroundings not far from Stockholm.

Great to be back in Denmark. I have decided to no longer travel full-time after being a full-time traveller for seven years. I am working on many projects and ideas, but I will continue to travel. I would like to complete the Travelers' Century Club's list of 325 countries, territories and unique destinations and see more unique places like South Georgia Island (photo). 34 left, but expect it will take a few years to complete it if at all possible. Now enjoying being back in Denmark and having a place to call home again. Working on lots of things every day and hoping the future will be as exciting or more as in the past seven years.

Just arrived in Uppsala, Sweden. Currently travelling around Europe by car for 3-4 months before chasing new territories. Haven't been to any new ones for a while since my @Silverseacruises from South America to South Africa. I much prefer travelling by car instead of planes, trains and buses. EDIT: In this trip to Sweden, I stayed at Thorskogs Slott (great surroundings) , Villa Sjötorp (good food) , Salt & Sill @saltosill (interesting location) , Rosersbergs Slotthotel (great building) and Villa Källhagen (interesting country feel in Stockholm) before arriving in Uppsala. Fancourt, George, South Africa. Travel Tip: You can make a trip from Europe to South Africa more enjoyable and comfortable by adding a stop in the Seychelles. Recently I found a ticket from Johannesburg to Milan with a 21-day stop in the Seychelles cheaper than flying directly to Europe. Stayed here just a few days after my @Silverseacruises - cruise from South America to South Africa that ended with a nice trip to the Cape of Good Hope near Cape Town.
