South Georgia Island in the Atlantic Ocean. One of my favourite places in the world. Isn't this just amazing? Today it's been four weeks since I moved into the hotel, Wake Up Aarhus. It's a great city and a nice hotel, but I miss travelling. I want to visit more places on my bucket list over the coming months. I am planning to visit a new territory next week and a lot more this upcoming winter. I look forward to the many experiences and sharing lots of great photos with you. Have a nice weekend, everyone. Rebild Bakker, Nordjylland, Denmark. @visitnordjylland - Tip: Cheap flights to Aalborg with Ryanair from London Stansted.
Voergaard Castle, Nordjylland, Denmark. @visitnordjylland - Denmark is much more than just Copenhagen.
It requires a lot of passports to visit every country in the world. I've had 10 or 11 total in my life. I'm hiding the passport numbers very creatively.
Church in Mariager, Nordjylland, Denmark. @visitnordjylland One of the most charming towns in Denmark. Great to be living in Denmark again. Although it's a small country, there is still a lot I haven't seen.
Klitmøller, Thy, Denmark. Have you been to this part of Denmark or is it on your list? @visitnordjylland
France is the Most Visited Country in the World #facts It is one of my favourite countries for the food, historical buildings and the stunning countryside I love exploring by car. Here are photos of ten places I experienced on my recent trip: 1. Le Relais Bernard Loiseau 2. Château d’Audrieu 3. Le Château de Beaulieu 4. La Grande Maison de Bernard Magrez 5. Café Lavinal, Château Cordeillan-Bages 6. Hôtel Ithurria 7. Manoir de Lan Kerellec 8. Château la Chenevière 9. La Côte Saint Jacques 10. Château de Noirieux
My Top 5 Favourite Restaurants I have experienced more than 100 gourmet restaurants and have recently added some to my list of favourites. Here's a top 5 in no particular order. Photo 1: The Test Kitchen, Cape Town. A unique experience that started in "The Dark Room" with drinks and appetisers before going to "The Light Room" for the courses. Fantastic food and excellent food. An overall wonderful experience and not that expensive compared to the average price of three Michelin-starred restaurants in Europe. The Test Kitchen is ranked the best restaurant in Africa by the award, The World's 50 Best Restaurants. Photo 2: Manoir Inter Scaldes, The Netherlands, countryside. An Outstanding dining experience at their two Michelin-starred restaurant. High level of food, creativity and service. A lot of local produce and a wine list with many organic wines especially impressed me. Photo 3: La Grande Maison de Bernard Magrez, Bordeaux. Excellent food, attention to details and a lot of creativity. Got two stars the first year they were rated by Michelin, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they get a third star next year. Photo 4: &Samhoud Places, Amsterdam. A fantastic gastronomic experience in Amsterdam. This two Michelin-starred restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere, open kitchen and excellent service from the passionate staff. Photo 5: Le Relais Bernard Loiseau, Saulieu, France. Excellent food and professional service. Two stars are not enough. They deserve a third based on my knowledge and experience in gourmet restaurants. Creativity and taste match the three-star Michelin restaurants I’ve experienced.
The Best Beach in the World? Anse Lazio (photo) on the island of Praslin in the Seychelles would definitely be a candidate in my opinion. It's just one of many in the Seychelles, one of my favourite countries to travel. I've spent just over a month in the country. Here are a list of properties I've stayed and can recommend: Name of resort, price level, my opinion with one word: 1. North Island, $$$$$$$$$$$ , Fantastic 2. Frégate, $$$$$$$$$, Fantastic 3. Update: Still 34 Territories Left After completing my project of visiting every country in the world, my main travel goal is to visit every territory in the world. I still have 34 left on the list as I have focused on European travel lately. I am in no rush of trying to complete the list as I don't know if I can ever visit Wake Island, Midway Island and the British Indian Ocean Territory. Wake and Midway are part of the United States, and as I have been to Syria (among other countries on their list), I can't visit America like I used to. I am not allowed to arrive on the ESTA, but will instead have to apply at an embassy manually. About a five hour trip each way from my current home. It's just time-consuming and annoying. To my understanding, no other country has implemented a policy that visitors to Iran, Iraq, Sudan, or Syria since March 2011, can't visit their country. My travel plans for the near future is to focus on Denmark, shorter trips within Europe and new territories when it makes sense. Most of them are in the Pacific, and it doesn't make sense to go all the way there only to tick off one or two. It requires a lot of planning. Instagram is not a good platform for text-only, so here is a slideshow of ten of the properties I have stayed this year. Thorskogs Slott, Sweden A beautiful Swedish castle close to Gothenburg. Villa Crespi, Italy 1879-property with two Michelin-stars. Hotel Stadt Hamburg, Germany Relais & Châteaux-associated hotel with a classical design on the island of Sylt. Da Vittorio, Italy A good place to stay. An amazing place to dine. Three well-deserved Michelin stars. Hotel Ithurria, France Close to the Spanish border. One Michelin star. Run by two brothers. L'Albereta, Italy 57-room Relais&Châteaux-associated hotel with excellent food. Hostellerie La Butte Aux Bois, Belgium Great service and food. One Michelin star. A member of Relais & Châteaux. Vain Boutique Hotel, Argentina A comfortable boutique hotel in Buenos Aires. Landhaus Stricker, Germany A Relais & Châteaux-associated hotel on the island of Sylt with one Michelin star. La Grande Maison de Bernard Magrez, France Amazing room and food. Two Michelin stars.
My favourite way to travel is by road. It gives you total freedom, and you are in control. You can stop and take photos when you see something beautiful, and you can get to many beautiful places that can be difficult to reach with public transport. Here are ten places I reached this year travelling by car: Château de Jalesnes, France. Interesting chateau hotel. Very nice apartments. No restaurant. Le Relais Bernard Loiseau. World famous hotel. Two Michelin stars. Incredible food. Great service, excellent staff. The hotel is world famous because chef Bernard Loiseau committed suicide after he lost his third star. La Cote Saint Jacques, France. Charming hotel with a two Michelin-starred restaurant located in a small town. Château de Fére, France. A member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World. Manoir de Lan Kerellec, France. Family-owned hotel with one Michelin star. Idala Gård, Sweden. A member of Countryside Hotels. Åhus Gästgivaregård, Sweden. Charming room and great food. Båsenberga Hotell & Konferens, Sweden. Very small, but charming single room. Very quiet place. Villa Källhagen, Stockholm, Sweden. A little feel of countryside within Stockholm. Lovely room. Rosersbergs Slotthotel, Sweden. Castle hotel with beautiful surroundings not far from Stockholm.
Vigsø, Thy, Denmark. Great to be back in Denmark. If you have been to Denmark, what do you think about it?
Floralis Genérica, Buenos Aires. Went here with @Uber_arg - Have you been to Argentina or is it on your list?
Great to be back in Denmark. I have decided to no longer travel full-time after being a full-time traveller for seven years. I am working on many projects and ideas, but I will continue to travel. I would like to complete the Travelers' Century Club's list of 325 countries, territories and unique destinations and see more unique places like South Georgia Island (photo). 34 left, but expect it will take a few years to complete it if at all possible. Now enjoying being back in Denmark and having a place to call home again. Working on lots of things every day and hoping the future will be as exciting or more as in the past seven years.
Back in Denmark.
One of the best trips ever. Dennmark—Sweden—Germany—The Netherlands—Belgium—France so far. Here are photos of 10 recent beautiful properties I've stayed. Château d'Audrieu. Château de Noirieux. Château la Cheneviére. La Château de Beaulieu. Manoir Inter Scaldes. Parkhotel de Wiemsel. Gutshaus Stolpe. Örenäs Slott & Konferens. Karlaby Kro. Villa Anna, Uppsala. You can read about them soon on my website.
Just arrived in Uppsala, Sweden. Currently travelling around Europe by car for 3-4 months before chasing new territories. Haven't been to any new ones for a while since my @Silverseacruises from South America to South Africa. I much prefer travelling by car instead of planes, trains and buses. EDIT: In this trip to Sweden, I stayed at Thorskogs Slott (great surroundings) , Villa Sjötorp (good food) , Salt & Sill @saltosill (interesting location) , Rosersbergs Slotthotel (great building) and Villa Källhagen (interesting country feel in Stockholm) before arriving in Uppsala. What are your travel plans for this summer?
Beach on South Georgia Island, probably my number one favourite island in the world. Is it on your list? @Silverseacruises is doing another Cape to Cape trip next year!
Fancourt, George, South Africa. Travel Tip: You can make a trip from Europe to South Africa more enjoyable and comfortable by adding a stop in the Seychelles. Recently I found a ticket from Johannesburg to Milan with a 21-day stop in the Seychelles cheaper than flying directly to Europe. Stayed here just a few days after my @Silverseacruises - cruise from South America to South Africa that ended with a nice trip to the Cape of Good Hope near Cape Town.
Arrived in La Digue late afternoon after an amazing helicopter ride from Mahe with Zil Air. Travel Tip: There are many cheap places on Airbnb in the Seychelles if the hotel rates are above your budget. #travel #seychelles Went to the Seychelles a few days after my @Silverseacruises - cruise from South America to South Africa that ended with a nice trip to the Cape of Good Hope near Cape Town. EDIT: After the 2017-trip to the Seychelles, I have now stayed at following properties: Name of resort, price level, my opinion with one word: 1. North Island, $$$$$$$$$$$ , Fantastic 2. Frégate, $$$$$$$$$, Fantastic 3. Raffles Praslin, $$$$$$, Great 4. Banyan Tree, Mahe, $$$$$$, Great 5. Constance Lemuria, Praslin, $$$$$, Great 6. Desroches Island Resort, $$$$$, Great 7. Giant Tortoise on North Island Seychelles. Celebrated my 29th birthday on this amazing island just after I had been on a three week cruise with @Silverseacruises where I was lucky to experience South Georgia Island. One of the best hotels in the world for sure. I'm in the Seychelles for the third time. This time for three weeks Enjoying it.
Cape of Good Hope was the final trip I did with @Silverseacruises - My first expedition cruise. Travelling to the Seychelles later today.
Not Giving Up In this photo, I am explaining live on Danish National TV where Tristan da Cunha is. Unfortunately, due to extreme weather conditions, I did not manage to land there. It's a big disappointment. Especially as I don't like sailing and decided to spent three weeks on a boat to get there on my @Silverseacruises cruise. It's the world's most remote inhabited island. I have 34 territories left, but Tristan da Cunha is certainly possible. It's just a matter of keep trying. There are only three territories I don't know if I can visit. British Indian Ocean Territory, Midway Island and Wake Island. They are not tourist destinations and require special permission. I've heard there's only been one trip approved for tourists to Wake Island in 30 years so chances might not look great but I am not giving up. If there is one thing I have learned from visiting every country in the world, it is that you just have to keep trying and not give up! My travels are not only about a list thing. I am so excited about getting back to South Africa in a few days followed by a visit to another of my favourite countries. Then I plan to travel the European countryside for some months starting at the end of April. Later in the year, I plan to spend many months in New Zealand and visit as many Pacific territories as I can. Thanks to TV 2 in Denmark for their written approval to use this screenshot.
Still on a cruise with @Silverseacruises 4 days incredible days in South Georgia. Now getting close to the Tristan da Cunha archipelago. Excited to explore more of this remote part of the world.
Day Two at South Georgia was pretty amazing as well. Thanks @Silverseacruises
First Day on South Georgia Island. - One of the most amazing places I have ever been. I have travelled a lot. More than 3,000 days and 291 countries and territories as of today. South Georgia stands out as one of the best experiences I've had. I look forward to experience more of this amazing place. I don't like sailing but @Silverseacruises is doing an excellent job, and I am enjoying exploring some of the most remote parts of our planet. I hope to complete the list of visiting every country and territory next year, but I need luck with British Indian Ocean Territory and Wake Island. Can anyone help? :) South Georgia is one of my new favourite places in the world. Add it to your bucket list?
Ushuaia, Argentina with the slogan "The southernmost city in the world". Beautiful. Now been on a cruise with @Silverseacruises for two days after a great stay at Arakur Ushuaia Resort & Spa. Before this I spent some days in the Argentinian capital, Buenos Aires and explored the city with @uber_arg. Very excited about my first expedition cruise.
What a Week Where to start? I've now been to Brazil three times after I visited Natal for three days the other day. I am sorry I have not updated until now, but I have been very busy. Just take a look at what have happened in the past week: -I stayed at three lovely hotels in Madrid. The Principal Madrid Hotel, TÓTEM Madrid and Orfila Madrid. -Many interviews including BBC Mundo ( http://www.bbc.com/mundo/noticias-39125697 ), El Mundo ( http://www.elmundo.es/sociedad/2017/03/01/58b5b726268e3efe4f8b459f.html ), Cuatro ( http://www.cuatro.com/noticias/sociedad/trotamundos-viajar-paises-Henrik_Jeppesen_2_2332080215.html ), today I am doing at least two interviews in Buenos Aires and an interview with India Today is now online http://indiatoday.intoday.in/story/henrik-jeppesen-denmark-low-budget-travel-every-country-lifetr/1/897741.html -Several restaurants including Restaurante Lua in Madrid with a Michelin-star. So I was in Brazil for three days only as I have to get on a cruise this week from the south of Argentina. TAP Portugal flew me from Madrid to Lisbon to Natal where I stayed at Serhs Grand Hotel. I like TAP's contemporary colours and both flights were comfortable. Then GOL Linhas Aéreas flew me to Sao Paulo (almost missed my flight because of bad traffic in Natal, so stressful) and then to Buenos Aires. In Buenos Aires, I've stayed at Moreno Hotel and Algodon Mansion so far before checking into my last hotel later today. Tomorrow I will fly to the south of Argentina before getting on a cruise later in the week. I have already explored a lot of Buenos Aires with my partner, Uber ( @uber_arg ) and will continue to see more of the city today and tomorrow. It's an amazing city for sure! Well worth a visit. Very exciting times of my life. I am enjoying it and working hard on reaching my goals! Have a great week everyone! Thanks to @Silverseacruises for agreeing to work with me and bringing me one step closer to completing every territory.
Just finished my lunch. Brownie with vanilla soup, almond ice cream and black truffle at Restaurante Lua ( @restaurante_Lua) in Madrid with one Michelin star. Now getting to my next hotel to do an interview with national TV. EDIT after the stay: My next hotel was Orfila Hotel, Madrid. A classical hotel with a membership of Relais & Châteaux. You can read more about it on my website.
Just did an interview with Real Madrid TV. Barcelona and Atletico fans: Don't worry. I am not a Real Madrid fan. I am only fan of two local football clubs in Denmark, but I do like watching big games and players. Morning: Interview with El Mundo / BBC Mundo. Afternoon: Checking out of the lovely The Principal Hotel Madrid. Checked into a new hotel and off to Bernabéu for the interview. People were looking a lot at me as I walked around with the camera man. Some asked if I was a new player. Unfortunately no. I haven't played for years. One of Real Madrid TV's journalists had read about me on BBC Mundo and wanted me on to talk about my journey to every country in the world and football. It was great fun. Tomorrow I will focus on food where I have two restaurants to cover before flying to Brazil on Thursday.
An uncommon view of downtown Beirut, Lebanon 🇱🇧 I've been twice to Beirut. Have you been or is it on your list?
