So I tried out a second keto / low carb cake today that will be used as my mini wedding cake for my fiancé and I. The guests will have a regular cake. . This was an Italian Cream Cake with cream cheese frosting (scuse the lumps) and although it looked great and would’ve stood up to the day in terms of its density and richness, it just wasn’t for me. I’m going to need less sweet, less nuts, less coconut, less rich. Maybe an @oooflavors flavouring of some sort to cut through the richness like lemon or I don’t know what....❓❓❓❓ . So far Aaron’s cake that I made and tested (devoured) last night is on the mark as it was light, the taste was subtle and it wasn’t over-sweet... @fatforweightloss ✅ . Tomorrow I’m going to make a carrot cake and a chocolate cake/cheesecake of some sort. @ketochix has also given me an idea with one of her cakes so I may be baking for the next 2 weekends ......yum....not carnivore.....but I’m good with that for now✅✅✅✅✅ . 3/3 done for week 3 of my 8 week leg butt challenge. This took around 15 mins to complete and I did the beast level. . . Way to go Ambience cafe. They have a full keto only menu and bullet proof coffee. I asked for this selection from the various things I saw on the keto menu and they were more than happy to oblige. Broke my record with 5 minutes, 15 second plank. . . My first 8 week challenge was a plank challenge. I got to 5 minutes continuous plank by the end. I’ve since done my 8 week tricep push up challenge and am now into my 8 week leg butt challenge. . I’m also participating in @eat.run.cook 60 day ab challenge and my goal was to be able to smash my 5 minute plank record by the end of the ab challenge. . Well....we have 29 days to go and this morning I planked out 💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥 5 minutes 15 seconds....it’s a win 💥💥💥💥💥 . The perfect Saturday morning espresso. Second one actually coz it’s so good 😋😋😋😋😋😋 . I drink my coffee black except for a bullet proof coffee that I have mid morning which has ghee, coconut oil or MCT oil (MCT oil weekends) and a scoop of bovine collagen. ☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️ . I use black coffee only as my pre workout for my early morning gym sessions and the BPC provides some energy later on, seeing me through to meal 1 around 12:30-1pm during the week. I did something completely out of my comfort zone last year...the Sydney Spartan obstacle race. I had only two weeks to train and had a trainer take me through navy seal training for that time. It was a race against the clock. I didn’t do very well as my upper body strength in being able to pull myself up was poor. I did however do the whole race, 2 hours 40 mins, on a coffee and cream. I was so well fat adapted that the early start and around 11am finish was fine and then didn’t eat until after 3pm. . To say it was gruelling, both mentally and physically, would be an understatement. By the end of the race, and for days afterwards, every muscle in my body was screaming..... . So why do I bring this all up now? Because I’m considering doing either a Sydney or Gold Coast one next year, 2019. Now that I know what it’s like and where my weaknesses lie, I think I could smash it next time coz it definitely smashed me, well crushed me, last time. . I’ll be looking for team members if I do decide to go again, as I believe I couldn’t do it without a team. So, I’ve downloaded the suggested workouts from the Australian Spartan website and I’ll see what’s there. As I said I know some of what I’d need to do...mainly pull ups and crawls (zoo bootcamp currently doing will help with this but I hate them) and rope climbs and body propelling up and over obstacles plus running. . So I’ll think about a plan and decide if it’s on the cards or not. So trying to tense the back muscles is quite hard, getting the lats to flare and also squeezing between the shoulder blades plus the biceps. I don’t really know how it’s all put together but I tried for the sake of seeing what’s going on back there👍👍👍 . My main exercises have been tricep pushups over the last couple of months plus biceps and shoulders. More recently adding in some work to help with pull ups and handstands push ups. . I also love the elliptical for both cardio fitness and I use it like a HIIT workout to increase my fitness level. I’m almost due to go up a level. No point cruising on the same level once it starts to feel comfortable. Time@to smash the next goal. So next week I go up a level on my steady state and my HIIT elliptical. The push ups etc just happen when I feel like it and to meet various challenges. That ways it’s fun and no pressure. No major back or chest training prior to the wedding as I want the dress to fit and I like the back progress so far anyways without stacking on a full on weights programme. It’s all about perspective.....how do I see myself! What am I willing to reveal about myself? Do I show what I have achieved? . So many times I see people showing progress shots of their weight loss journey in less than what I’m wearing, and at various stages of their journey, revealing all, yet I have felt hesitant to show the result of the journey, a journey that I’ve struggled with since I was in single digits. . I’m at the stage of my journey where I feel strong and healthy and proud of what I’ve achieved so far. . I’m getting older and soon there’ll be a time when I just can’t show the achievements. I read a post the other day which went along the lines of show whatever you want, be proud of your achievements, don’t worry what anyone else thinks, no one knows your journey and what you’ve been through to get here.
