Fun in the kitchen this afternoon! I’m helping an awesome little man who has FPIES come up with some safe finger foods. In case you haven’t heard of it before, FPIES stands for food protein induced enterocolitis. It is a type of food allergy although it doesn’t cause hives/rash/anaphylaxis. It causes profuse vomiting after eating trigger foods (in Australia those foods are often rice, oats and chicken). As you can imagine that can make weaning feel pretty terrifying and hard. We’ve been slowly introducing veges and fruits with the guidance of a dietician and these beauties are peach quinoa muffins. They are free of all top 10 allergens and use only quinoa flour and potato starch given that rice is a definite trigger food. I’m feeling so excited to share these with his Mamma!!!
