Running and exercise are a real mental struggle for me! Some days I come back feeling super proud and other days soooooo disappointed! First half km I could barely breathe, chest felt super tight so I stopped, took a few seconds to control my breathing and started again, managed another 0.5km and stopped again! Then argued with myself to run the block which I managed mostly until I got to the huge hill that I usually run down rather than up, I was going up this time so walked part way up! I know all my efforts are better than doing nothing which I was before but I can’t help feeling like my running has gone backwards recently! First run in my new @sauconyuk running trainers and have to admit I struggled. So that’s the end of the 5k runner app for me.... now for Strava to take over my running logging! Week 8 run 3, 5k in 33 mins 15 seconds! 🎉🎉 This was the first time running this route down by the river, slower than my 5k on Saturday but I had 3 gates to open and a huge canal lock to cross too! Week 8 run 2 OMG i did my first 5k in 30 mins 54 seconds! 🎉🎉 the app said 30 mins running but I couldn’t get that close to 5k and not keep going! That’s where my mentality has changed more than my even my physical fitness as at the start I would have never pushed myself more than I needed to! Week 8 run 1 (OMG ONLY 2 runs left till I’m at 5k) 🎉🎉! 28 mins total run (4.4 km) and my average pace was 6m20s per km (based on that i should do 5k in around 31 mins! I have actually started to enjoy running now, just not the mental prep to get myself going! Week 7 day 1 🎉🎉! So tonight was my first constant run with no walk breaks! I’ve been running 20 mins total a few times so far but with breaks/intervals of walk in between 20 mins total running tonight! 20R plus 5 mins either end warm up/cool off! Week 6 day 2 complete! So this week has been messed up as my previous run should have been week 5 day 3 but apparently I skipped that and did week 6 day 1 instead! And then tonight during my second 10 min run I failed, had to walk a bit of it. Failed miserably and disappointed at myself for giving in! Maybe it’s the oppressive close weather as I’m dripping wet in sweat! Or maybe the 3 min walk wasn’t enough to recover!
