With no @oatly on the island, the solution is simple. You make you’re own #oatmilk. . . Which I did. Just now. With this no added artificial sweeteners or flavors or gluten recipe from @foodmatters :. . ► 1 cup rolled oats (I used @bobsredmill #organic + #glutenfree ). ► 3 cups filtered water + 1 extra cup for soaking. ► 1 pinch sea salt. ► Optional: 1 whole date, pitted or 1 tbsp maple syrup, 1/2 tsp vanilla extract and/or cinnamon. . Method:. 1. Soak the oats in 1 cup of water for half an hour. This helps create creamy milk.. 2. Strain your soaked oats and add to a high-speed blender with 3 cups of filtered water, a pinch of sea salt and optional ingredients, if using.. Blend the mixture until smooth and creamy.. 3. Pour the mixture through cheesecloth or nut milk bag to separate the oat milk from the oats. This is optional, skip this step if you don't mind a bit of texture in your milk.. 4. Today was the last day for this year that the lovely @kdefreitas and owner of @8_the_experience did my hair before going on maternity leave mid November. She does my hair every 6 weeks and am super happy with her skills and conversations. . . Needless to say I wish her all the best for the remainder of her pregnancy. BUT, I also can’t wait until she’s back 🙊. Is that bad, Kim? She’s my hair therapist and lock whisperer 😆. . . But seriously @kdefreitas , may your baby arrive happy and healthy. I wish you joy, I wish you luck, I wish you a safe delivery. . Something else I started doing since last month is having my brows tinted for more definition. It’s a simple and fast procedure, and in my opinion a far better alternative to the painful microblading I had done 💯. Easy, affordable and healthy-ish veggie pasta to make mid-week. . . During the week I love to prep meals that will last me at least two days, are quick and adaptable with add-ons. . We’ve been nomming on this brown rice macaroni since Monday and it still tastes damn good. It’s filled with veggies, fresh herbs and ground “veggie” meat. We topped it with organic shredded sharp cheddar cheese from @organicvalley . . Make yours here:. 1 (standard sized) bag of organic pasta. We used brown rice mac.. 1 jar of basil pasta sauce 2 large bell peppers (any color you like). 2 containers of organic mushrooms. 1/2 a bunch of fresh basil. 1 packet of ground “veggie” meat. Salt and pepper to taste. 2 tbsp avocado/olive oil . Preparations:. 1. Rinse and half the bell peppers. Take out the stem and chop in smaller pieces. I always cut them first in strips, then smaller pieces.. 2. Brush away any dirt from the mushrooms, half and then slice in thinner pieces.. 3. Rinse the basil, remove the leaves and chop up.. 4. Fill a large pan with water. When the water is boiling add the pasta and follow the instructions.. 5. Heat a large frying pan with oil [I like to use avocado oil as it doesn’t oxidate at higher temperatures] and add the mushrooms. Season with freshly ground pepper and sea salt. When done add the basil, stir and put the mixture in a bowl for later.. 6. Add a bit more oil to the frying pan and add the chopped bell peppers. Stir until soft. Add the ground veggie meat. Season with salt and pepper. When done add the mushroom mix and pasta sauce.. 7. When the pasta is done, pour off the water, add the veggie mix and combine.. 8. An oldie but a goodie 🍌🍫🍒🍃. . @simplegreensmoothies inspired Cherry Chocolate Green Smoothie as a 💪🏼 power up (boy did I need it) for last night’s full moon HIIT yoga🌕. The energy was lit ⚡️. . . Ingredients [serves 2].: 2 cups unsweetened plant milk (I used almond but cashew would also taste really good), 2 cups baby spinach, 2 tbsp raw cacao powder, 1 cup frozen banana, 2 cups frozen cherries. First add milk and spinach, then add the frozen fruits and lastly the cacao. Besides catching up with friends, the absolute highlight of my trip to @8_the_experience last Sunday was scoring a couple of @thelazy_loaf ‘s superb #sourdough loaves in support for #fundashonsintaros Breast Cancer Awareness. This beaut is called “Drunken Figs + Walnut Sourdough” 🤩. . I love bread. Always have. You guys know this. But, since a couple years I’ve turned into a bit of a bread snob and choose my breads/loaves very selectively. . . The bread I used to eat can be considered as air pockets. I could easily eat four slices. With a good country bread or sourdough you’ll only need one or two slices that will keep you satisfied far longer than conventional bread ever could. . . I love @thelazy_loaf ‘s bread so much and will stay true to them as long as they keep on making and selling them at pop-ups. Sunday salad to end my 2-day cleanse. To be honest, I haven’t eaten this many veggies in a while 🤷🏻‍♀️. I asked my hand 🤲🏼 model @bjorn_muskus to help out 😆. . . Salad deets [serves 2]: About 1 cup cooked quinoa dressed with olive oil, lemon juice, freshly cracked pepper, nutritional yeast, smoked paprika powder mixed with 2 hands full of baby spinach and topped with two oven grilled sliced bell peppers, 1/2 of a large avocado, a bit of feta cheese (optional), about 1 cup of cherry tomatoes and some dried goji berries. After my visit at Barbulette Blanku before our trip to Orlando I was advised to do a cleanse to solve the circulation issues in my legs. Every month just before my period I would get a very heavy feeling in both of my legs. It kind of resembles muscle pain and it won’t let me sleep at night without a painkiller, an epsom salt bath and some bio freeze rolled onto both of my legs to get rid of that restless feeling. . . Without saying anything to Jennifer and after having scanned my body she already knew that I had issues with my circulation and after explaining what happened every month she told me it had to do with my lymphs that filled up. . . A cleanse would help get rid of the toxin built up. Her advise was to drink prune juice for 3 days starting with 1 tall glass in the morning at 6am, followed by a tall glass of water 30 minutes later, followed again by a tall glass of prune juice 30 minutes later and ending at 8am with my last tall glass of water to kickstart my digestive system. This went down last Saturday and Sunday. I only did 2 days. It was very hard for me 🙊. Well, lemme tell ya. I stayed very close to the toilet until 4pm 😱. My body seemed to be very happy with this situation as it said go, go, GO!!!! 🤣 . I was to eat only (all the)fruits and veggies for three days. Drink lots of water and herbal teas. Needless to say I didn’t dare to consume so much during those eliminating hours 💁🏻‍♀️. I made salads, steamed broccoli (without salt but added olive oil and a bit of nutritional yeast...not sure if this was ok but it otherwise tasted very blah), made green smoothies. . . I soon realized how often I was standing in front of the fridge looking for something, anything. Then closed the fridge as all that I was eyeing I wasn’t allowed 😭. It was also very clear how many times I would snack on either dark chocolate, maybe something salty in the afternoon or a sandwich. Aaaaand how little veggies I’d actually eat. Green smoothies truly seem to help with this as we in general would otherwise not consume the necessary amount. The commute back towards Miami started reaaaaally early and eventually turned up our stress level. Because: 1. Waking up at 4:30am. 2. No breakfast, as obvs everything was still closed. 3. Taking more than 4 hours to get to MIA Airport thanks to traffic, after we dropped off our rental car and were finally able to relief ourselves at the restroom 😳. 4. Checking in 30 minutes prior boarding, so no time to get that coveted 15 minute airport back neck massage or a matcha latte from Starbucks 😭. . . This was clearly not the way to start or morning and end our trip. By the time we got back home, we were exhausted. Never again 🙄. . . Tell me your travel woes.
