Looking to adopt a senior dog? ❤️ #chloelivesforever
Have you been brushing your teef? ❤️ Maui, DDS #adoptmauimbc @mrbonesandco @mypetssmile
Happy 1/2 Birthday @rorygrumbles aka Little Dude! We wish you a day filled with recycling, Chewbacca type toys, hopping in, out and under your bed, twigs and branches and play time with friends! . . . . . . . Our last two @mrbonesandco fosters were adopted by first time dog parents and to see the love flowing endlessly in each family is what makes fostering so amazing. We get to grow our family of dog lovers, inherit an endless stream of dog nieces and nephews (and play dates for Shea) all with the original intent of giving them a temporary place to await their adoption. Fostering is just one of the many ways we realistically get to express our love of dogs without becoming animal hoarders 🤭 #fosteradoptrescueadvocate #tbt
Once upon a time my boyfriend sent me a photo of a puppy he encountered at work. True to our very different personalities, I, having no experience in having a fur family member wouldn’t drop the idea of bringing a dog into our lives. His rebuttal was an endless list of practical pre-requisites. For example, he told me to look at our year-to-date calendar, pretend we had a dog and explain for each day how I would make sure I had a plan on caring for a dog. It took almost a year of my unreasonable whining and crying, his sensible debates, my arsenal of research results organized by category on my Pocket App, his inability to commit to a yes or a no, my best interpretation of what I believed his heart wanted and all the knowledge I read and could repeat back without batting an eyelash and he finally relented. Bringing a dog into our family could have been a disaster if I was left to my emotionally charged impulses. Not ever getting a dog because of his aversiveness to change would have been a huge loss of an incredible life experience. I’m glad we took the time to work through our clashing personalities to make sure we could both (Ms. LaDeeDa and Mr. DoomsDay) be the best staff for our Shea. It wasn’t easy to fulfill his requirement of being 200% ready but it was so worth it. I’m glad I persisted 😜 #leveragelove P.S. this lovely #nsptee was an @annerobincallig and @pitbullsposies creation to support @plannedparenthood. It’s a shirt that resonated with me in so many ways. ❤️ P.P.S. While most have chosen to talk about the struggles they have with their dogs as part of @cjiro’s #leveragelove campaign, I’m choosing to talk about my struggles with the human because so many times, how we handle our relationships and the stress we bear with the humans (including ourselves) can shape how we label our dogs. It’s easy to call a dog difficult because they can’t snap back and tell you - you’re actually the one being difficult.
Step step turn. Werk it Maui. #adoptbeachpuppiesmbc
One of the pillars of knowledge in animal advocacy and frankly, in life, period. Thank you @cjiro for the words. As @mex.cana beautifully put it “don’t judge people for the choices they make when you don’t know the options they had to choose from.” #repost ・・・ I saw these words this morning as many mourn the loss of Anthony Bourdain, and Kate Spade from earlier this week. Bourdain was behind all my favorite food/travel shows - and I’ve read a few of his books. I loved his down to earth approach to food and travel, and I’m deeply saddened he won’t be creating anymore, and even sadder that his family has lost a father, a son, friend, and partner. The other thought that came to mind was the topic of returning dogs to a shelter, and the reasons why. I created something a while back and recently reposted it. A conversation started and @mmssunshine brought up the idea of everyone trying to do their best and shifting the way we view, and ultimately treat people coming into the shelter. Obviously there are many cases that make you go “WTF” - but more and more intervention programs like @homedogla and @downtowndogrescue show us that everyone is going through something and sometimes it’s a small gesture or piece of education that can keep a dog with their family. In a world where everyone judges everything and everyone without looking past the surface, it’s important to remember that everyone is going through something - and too often what people present on the outside isn’t what’s really happening on the inside.
#fbf to foster # 1 @rorygrumbles as we prepare to welcome # 3. She’s going to be a special one, with a name and arrival day that pays homage to @ohkafrin and @southtown02’s sweet Nalu. 🌈 #fosteradoptrescueadvocate
2.0 mile walk with Nalu, my sister and Rich to start year 38 off right #rescuerunclub3030 ..... P.S. Though we have no photos to prove it, we spent Saturday afternoon and evening with @cjiro, @miss_kelly_christine and Lincoln of @rescuestrongco and I agree with what my family (including the extended Tavarez soon to be in-laws) have to say about them. They are really good people.
