Late wishes to it being National Tea Day yesterday. For some folks it’s tea day everyday. 😇 Loved the blends I tried out over the weekend @storiecafe 📚 More to follow soon. . . #teaculture #teaholic #hottea #ilovetea #nationalteaday

A short trip to Kerala made it necessary that I pull myself out of the daily cycle with my phone and social media. . . I never really took my phone out to take pictures except for a couple of shots that I took of this sunset. It was a day before Vishu. There were the sounds of preparatory fireworks in the background. Houses and shops were lit up with strings of colorful lights. . . Now that I’m back home, although I might not have a memory card full of pictures to share, the smell of the ground after a shower of rain, the mouthwatering taste of uppu manga (salted mangoes), the bright color of flowers in bloom, the joy of meeting my childhood friend, and the aroma of a nice cup of road side chai are still fresh in my mind. That is enough for now. 😌

33. Labour. #rmlentenjournal The eve of Palm Sunday for a lot of Christians means the preparation of ‘Kozhukatta’ (steamed rice dumplings with a coconut and jaggery filling). . . I grew up in a Protestant household from Kottayam and this wasn’t a tradition for us. Kozhukatta is a delicacy we loved indulging in whenever Mom made them. . . Post marriage my sister and I were introduced to this tradition. I still don’t know what the sweet has to do with Palm Sunday, but no one complains when Kozhukatta is served. 😬 . . The sister took a batch of them to her church. Every member brings a certain quantity from their home to church and its shared among the congregation. #labouroflove

I visited the Sharjah Art Foundation @sharjahart yesterday with the intention to attend the Culinary Experience - Karak culture. The place is designed in something like a maze format through narrow alleys leading to big courtyards with numerous spaced out doors opening to different exhibits. . . It’s visually very appealing. The earthy tones of the walls and the floor with the blue sky in the background and the sound of ruffling leaves and the little breeze every now and then make for a great walk. . . The area is still very much being developed. I walked in circles for a bit and then ventured out of the walls to find the Art square where the event was said to be taking place. Unfortunately I couldn’t attend the event but left feeling like I found a great spot for quiet time. . . I particularly loved ‘the urban garden’ which is an undisturbed spot with the tinkling of wind chimes and surrounded by the green and bright pops of color from the plants and flowers. A lovely spot for reading a book or just to get away from all the noise.

31. Anxiety. #rmlentenjournal This prompt was a little difficult to tackle. Anxiety is an issue that I try to deal with and most times find difficult to talk about. . . The dry stems and the slightly discolored flowers represent the phases of anxiety. These attacks may happen right when I’m in the middle of something. It could be the smallest of thoughts that branch out into something completely unnecessary. The mental stress trickles down and affects my body language and slows down the process of dealing with the issue at hand. . . Most of these attacks for me are triggered by fatigue, lack of rest, and probably the need for time to self. I think it is an issue that a lot of people face silently. . . There is a way out and that’s what the door represents. Patience and a good support system are so important. . . “When anxiety was great within me your consolation brought me joy.” - Psalm 94:19 #jj_nature #pocket_nature #jj_florals #pocket_flowers

30. Spotted. #rmlentenjournal On most mornings I enjoy a quiet drive by the Sharjah corniche area. Some days that extends to the calm roads by the Al Khan Beach. I decided to stop over and this was the view. . Forts the color of the sand and other preserved structures are sites that attract very many tourists to the Emirate. There is definitely a lot more to explore in Sharjah. #petitejoy #finditliveit #nothingisordinary #livethelittlethings #thatsdarling #slowlivingforlife #embracingtheseasons #liveunscripted #iphonephotography #exploreobserveshare

29. Guide me. #rmlentenjournal The guiding lines for March 20th in the scriptures read ‘Go with your heart’. . Testing waters push a person through unfamiliar territory and a fear of the unknown. A brief escape of some kind provides solace, but for a short period of time. . I’ve mostly ended such days returning to the scriptures. Familiar verses provide comfort and guidance and a pull out of a trying situation. “Are you being led by your spirit or your wound?” #guideme #scripture #guidance #gowithyourheart

27. Discomfort. #rmlentenjournal Body image. It is a constant and toxic game of comparing, assessing, measuring and wondering if I’m good enough. It is when this equates to self confidence that it becomes such a negative factor. Unhappiness, low self-esteem, and discomfort are all that I’m left with. . . Can I honestly say that I love myself and my body for all that it has been through? Not really. . . My son loves all the imperfect bits of me for him to hug. ❤️ I think aiming for a healthy balance and not an overnight miracle helps to put things in perspective. One day at a time. #bougainvillea

21. Female Power. #rmlentenjournal Little people, Big dreams. It’s a wonderful line of books for children which tell the powerful tales of outstanding women who made a difference in various walks of life through their incredible work. I found these at the Virgin store and it was so hard to pick one from the lot. Frida Kahlo, Amelia Earhart, and Coco Chanel were some of the others from the collection. I brought home Maya Angelou. . Raising two boys, I believe that it is so important for them to understand gender equality and to respect how women have changed the world and it’s perception on so many topics and how they continue to do so. Reading is a good way to start. Start at home. 🏠👩‍👦‍👦. Adrian enjoys reading Maya’s story. It’s interesting how the boundaries and limitations set by the world are invisible to children. • “I got my own back.” - Maya Angelou • #jj_lookingdown #startathome

24. Soulful. #rmlentenjournal Meditation is a practice that I’ve been trying to incorporate into my daily life. I haven’t been very successful at it. It’s when I close my eyes and try to focus on a central point that I realize how difficult it is to do that. My body gets restless and my mind starts to wander. Yesterday the kids and I visited the Sharjah Aquarium. The point of most of the outings with the kids is to just let them run free. That time spend with them, just watching them play and laugh brought all those feelings of calm and oneness that I aimed for through meditation • “Souls tend to go back to who feels like home.” - N.R.Hart • #dearphotographer #moodygrams #children #unscriptedchildhood #soulful
