Amazing pon tonight! We did a small/simple course and then a small gymnastic which was quite a struggle. Once we got it, it was much easier. My mom then took out the jump in the middle which was with the jump blocks and put them in front of the jumps and raised the last one to a vertical. I though he was going to refuse the first time and he didn’t so it was supper sloppy because of me, but when we did it again it was golden 👌 Don’t know why I just said it was golden 🤦‍♀️I’m leaving it though. We also have a show for the end of February I’m so excited for it because it’s going to be our first @tjctip show! • • • #equestrian #equestrianstyle #equestrianofinstagram #equestriansofinstagram #ottb #ottbofinstagram #ottbsofinstagram #fingerlakesfinest #horsejumping #doverboots #dover #itsfromdover #dovermodel #doversaddlery #doversaddlerylibertyville #horze #horzeequestrian #l4lequestrian #l4lhorses #f4fhorse #f4fequestrian #followforfollowhorse #horse #horsesofinstagram #horseofinsta #horseofinstagram #jumping #jumpinghorse #ariat #jumpingottb

Fancy boy and his transitions 😍 I rode yesterday Journ had a nice 9 day break. We just worked on getting him on the bit. It was a pretty chill ride. There’s also a temporary stall in the indoor because one of the horses foundered (spelling?) so we rode in a circle at the end of the arena. • • • #equestrian #equestrianstyle #equestrianofinstagram #equestriansofinstagram #ottb #ottbofinstagram #ottbsofinstagram #fingerlakesfinest #kerrits #kerritseq #dover #itsfromdover #dovermodel #doversaddlery #doversaddlerylibertyville #dublinclothing #dublinclothingna #l4lequestrian #l4lhorses #f4fhorse #f4fequestrian #followforfollowhorse #horse #horsesofinstagram #horseofinsta #horseofinstagram #dressage #dressageottb #dressagehorse #ottbdressage

We had an amazing ride today. The flat was ok, but when we started to jump 🤩 Journ was jumping so nicely and we had calm approaches. Overall our ride was (like I already said) amazing!! Couldn’t have started 2019 out • • • • #equestrian #equestrianstyle #equestrianofinstagram #equestriansofinstagram #ottb #ottbofinstagram #ottbsofinstagram #fingerlakesfinest #horsejumping #overboots #dover #itsfromdover #dovermodel #doversaddlery #doversaddlerylibertyville #horze #horzeequestrian #l4lequestrian #l4lhorses #f4fhorse #f4fequestrian #followforfollowhorse #horse #horsesofinstagram #horseofinsta #horseofinstagram #jumping #jumpinghorse #ottbjumper #jumpingottb

2 years ago this horse was given to me. His owner gave him to me because he wouldn’t do what she wanted so she could sell him. I got him and am doing just what he couldn’t do. Jump. He can jump and he loves it. But I’ll start at the beginning. Starting from day one I’ve loved this horse but I was also afraid of him. When spring came I rarely rode. I just liked having a horse of my own. After going to horse camp, I wanted a new horse. Journey was just doing what he knows best which was being a race horse. I rode him for 20 minutes and I was so happy with our ride. I still didn’t ride much. We went to our first show and he was still being a race horse (jigging). I didn’t ride from our dressage show till fair. He was quite a bit better during fair. After that we had an amazing ride in September. Something clicked and we started really becoming a team. Once 2018 came we started boarding Journey. I was still doing walk/trot until February. I let go of some fears and cantered. This year we’ve gone to the fairgrounds for an open ride with my friend, a clinic, a dressage show, and a pleasure show. We’ve also done a speed show at our old barn. It may not seam like a big deal to anyone but I’ve trotted bareback and trotted/cantered with out stirrups. We moved the horses to a different barn late August and I think that’s really where we started to take off. I’ve become so much more comfortable/confident with jumping, galloping, and frankly being around other horses. When it’s a horse I don’t know in a pasture following me I used to get a bit scared. I could not be more thankful for this horse. With out him my dreams wouldn’t be coming true. I’m so excited for 2019 to begin. We have so many new adventures planned. And hopefully we can start getting points for tip (Thoroughbred incentive program) and try to make it to Kentucky in 2020. I’m so excited to start eventing and find some place to gallop. Here’s to 2019 and new beginnings!

My pony was amazing for yesterday’s ride. He tried to buck when I first got on. After a few minutes of riding we were all good again. Today might be a jump day. We just need a lot of dressage work.

Today’s ride was 🤩amazing! Journey actually cantered when I asked him, he gave me a head toss which was funny. It was cold and windy, he wasn’t as spicy as I thought he would be. The first time we went to jump a vertical was with the blocks and he refused the to the right a few times. Then jumped the one with standards fine (started as a cross rail). The the blocks were a cross and he refused, went the other way and he was fine but still refused going to the left. Then we did a small vertical which he actually jumped 😂. My horse is pretty crazy. The first jump he jumped me out of the tack, over a cross rail! But he definitely loves jumping the big stuff.

He’s so pretty in this picture 😍😍 • Yesterday we rode before the farrier came and worked on my eq. I got Journ to get his left lead, and did a lot of sitting trot. Then he got his shoes reset and freaked out when he went back to the pasture and Buddy got trimmed. • Today it rained to much so I couldn’t ride outside, we did some work on the lunge while I was riding. Hopefully tomorrow I can ride outside and jump. • • • • • • #doversaddlery #doversaddlerylibertyville #dovermodel #itsfromdover #kerritseq #kerritsbreeches #kerrits #kerritsequestrian #horzeequestrian #horzesaddlepad #ovationgirth #ovationhelmet #ovationriding #dublinclothing #lakotaypa #lakotayoungprofessionals #lakotayoungprofessional #drawthisva #sophidrawme

I got a little crazy with editing today😂 I rode yesterday and today we did a small course today and did a small jump yesterday. Jumping is getting less scary we were doing verticals to.

I didn’t even bother putting a filter on this one. But I got some videos of Trig. But before I rode him I rode Journ and I was trying to get him a little more supple in the canter, and every now and then I try for a flying change I really don’t know how but I got one today! I ended our ride there because I was so amazed I thought he bolted for some reason but nope😁 I also rode Trig (like I already said🙄) we did 2 tests and my mom videoed (is that a word 🤔) me doing a test because I have like 3 out of 4 test memorized #overachiever since I get a reader. But yeah. I was trying to get his ears forwarding this picture😂 also my crop is in my boot 😅 yeah I’m weird. 11 days till the show 😳 • #kerrits #kerritsbreeches #kerritseq #ovation #ovationhelmet #dublin #dublinclothing #wintecsaddle #smartpak #mustang #mustangmagic #mustangsofinstagram #mustangs #follow4follow #followforfollow #f4f #likeforlikes #like4follow #likeforlike

Long-ish post ahead. This picture means the world to me. I was so happy to be walking my horse on a loose rein off property. I almost didn’t get on him because he was being a butt head walking around. I’m glad I got on and fought my fears. There were so many times I wanted to sell Journey and just give up. I’ve always loved horses but riding was a struggle. I didn’t enjoy it. Journey helped so much. My first show with him was a disaster. We walked out of the ring and he would not walk at all. I almost cried and gave up after my first test. I just sucked it up and got back on and finished the show. This year would be 3 years since I fell off and broke my arm. My mom tried to get me to canter on Journey the one time I tried I failed. I got upset and wales away. That wasn’t the only time. She said she would sell him if I didn’t canter and I would never be the rider I want to be. One day I didn’t worry and I just asked him to canter. I know my horse will never do anything to hurt me on purpose. This past weekend when I was at a speed show he went faster than my comfort zone. I was scared to let him go faster than a slow canter. I just keep think one step at a time. A little faster each time. I’m still trying to figure out what I was/still am afraid of. Don’t be afraid to ask for help, I was. Just think there’s someone out there that’s struggling to. It takes time. Nothing happens overnight.
