It’s been a few weeks since I’ve posted a leg day for you guys. Here is yesterday’s workout I did to target the hammies! 1. Kang Squats (partial) 5 x working up to 8 rep max 2. Hip Thrusts 4 x 12 3. Goblet Squats (sumo stance) 15, 15, 12, 12 4. DB Stiff Leg DL (toes elevated) 4 x 15 5. RDLs Using the shrug machine (my favorite machine to use incorrectly) 4 x 12 6. ⚠️ WARNING ⚠️ Lengthy post but it’s something I’ve been wanting to address for a while. Today is my two year divorce-iversary! When my divorce started I was so damn happy! While I was far from being a good wife, my ex was a master manipulator; to the point that I saw no way out and attempted suicide. After being released from the hospital we finally separated. I was over the moon to have my freedom but that quickly turned to fear. Because of how long he’d been abusing me I was always afraid that when I woke up I’d be back in the house, married to him. I stopped going to certain parts of the base we both worked on for fear of seeing him. I had constant nightmares and I was in and out of the ER frequently for panic attacks, and flash backs. About a year after the divorce that fear turned into anger. I HATED him. I got angry at strangers who resembled him and experienced road rage with drivers who had the same vehicle. When I got out of the Marines a few months ago, things got worse, because I finally FORGAVE him. It got worse because forgiving him meant I could finally evaluate myself and the things that I did wrong. I had suicidal thoughts for several weeks because I HATED myself. It didn’t matter how he acted, I KNEW BETTER. I WAS a better person than that. What was worse was some days I missed him! How could I miss such a horrible man? How could I miss someone who put me through that? How could I forgive someone who abused me mentally, emotionally, and SEXUALLY?!?! Today marks two years since our divorce was finalized and while I’m doing much better, I still have a ways to go. I still struggle with how I feel about the whole ordeal. I still have nightmares, flashbacks, and panic attacks. I still struggle with personal relationships and trust. I only wish that I had someone talking me through this whole process. Explaining to me how each step would go and how I’d experience all these awful emotions that made no sense to me. Divorce is a horrible thing to go through but it’s most often for the better! So if you’re about to take that leap, HANG IN THERE! It’s get better and you DESERVE better! It’s a heartbreaking roller coaster but I’m here to say, YOU’LL BE OK!
