We are delighted to offer this magnificent three-piece solid silver fruit bowl set, made by silversmith John Bodman Carrington (Carrington & Co) in London, 1890. . All the bowls feature an ornate repousse & gadrooned exterior with an alternating mirror finish / chased floral design. Handles attached to the sides have a silver case griffin design on each side with intricate detailing. . The interior has a high polish finish with a clean, bright and reflective surface. The bowl features a raised body with a circular and wide base that sits perfectly flush on tables/surfaces. . The set is compromised of one large centre-piece fruit bowl and two accompanying smaller subsidiary bowls that feature the exact same design with each base engraved with the phrase "for better". One can imagine perhaps the centre bowl would sit in the middle of a communal table and the two side bowls would be shared with other parties/guests, signifying for a better relationship for all beings involved. . The bowls are all hallmarked with the maker's mark, date mark (1890), silver lion and the London assay mark. . An exemplary Victorian set of silverware, ideal for any uncompromising collector or institutes who wish to display the bowls as an ornamental centrepiece or alternatively for personal use. . . We are pleased to be able to offer this exemplary piece of fine 19th century German silverware: a hand-painted enamel silver table snuff box. . Needless to say, the exterior is elaborately embellished with chased with acanthus scrolls and floral motifs in addition to the magnificent hand-painted enamel lid that is bordered by a rich dark blue frame with white accenting lines. The painting depicts a lady holding a lute whilst the gentleman behind gazes at her and two dogs in the foreground are resting. . The interior is equally matched with a silver gilt interior that lays in excellent original condition. . In hand, the heavy weight of the box is ever apparent with its widened base, curved edges and secure lid only further adding to this snuff box's majestic aesthetics. The lid and hinge are in perfect working order with an audible tight "click" upon closure. . There is no maker's marks present, however, the standard German national moon and crown mark and a 900 mark are hallmarked to the side (unlike regular 800 German silver, this box has been made with high-grade silver). . An unquestionably exquisite and fine addition for any uncompromising collector or as a display piece. . . Now available from www.artisanantiques.net @artisan_antiques

This unique snuff box features a solid silver frame in which two sides are mounted with mother of pearl lid/base. This snuff box was made by silversmith William Pugh in Birmingham 1831. . Externally, the box features a combination of classic Georgian chasing and engine turning as well as some unconventional aesthetic use of mother of pearl. In addition to an ornate thumb-piece, underneath it an unmonogrammed cartouche is present. . Interior wise, due to the mother of pearl being on both sides, there is no metal contact except for the framing, which has been plated with gold (silver-gilt) for additional aesthetics and corrosion prevention (when using snuff). . Whilst compact in size, the excellent craftsmanship of Birmingham silversmiths is evident with the precise cut of the pearls for the lid which has a smooth and tight closure. . The box is fully hallmarked with the Birmingham anchor, silver lion, Georgian head, date letter "h" (1831) and the maker's mark. . A rare find for those looking to add a unique piece of Georgian silver to their collection or as an indulgent snuff box/pill case for those who wish to use it with medication etc. . . This set of 6 Georgian silver tea/dessert spoons feature the classic Georgian berry spoon design but in a more compact form factor. . The stem and handles of the spoons have bright cut engravings and the bowl of the spoon features a silver gilt finish. . A lovely addition to either a preexisting silver collection or as an accenting piece of silverware for usage/display in combination with porcelain cups, saucers, etc. . All hallmarks are present: However, the makers vary from spoon to spoon as well as the age ranging in the 1800-1820s. Oddly, all the spoons still feature the exact same design and dimension. . .
