“For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day.” II Timothy 1:12 . . I have loved this scripture for so many years and it actually sounds like a pretty cool verse to quote. However, when Paul wrote these words, things were far from cool. He was an aged apostle in a dark, dank dungeon, imprisoned in Rome from which the only escape was probably death. He knew his own ministry was coming to an end, but he was mindful of making provision for the faith after his demise. Hence, this heartfelt epistle to the young Timothy. . . . Paul was clear that to live for Christ was to also suffer for Him. A far cry from the christianity we see in some of our churches and on social media today. . . Over the last couple of years, I became very intentional about being found in the word always. I am mindful of sharing my faith so as not to come across as overly spiritual, I am not perfect. But that notwithstanding, we are called to abide in the word and share the good news of the gospel. It is impossible for our lives to be changed by Jesus and His word, and yet keep it to ourselves. My faith is always strengthened every time I am consistently abiding in the word. . . . I also realised there are so many scriptures I don’t always remember in the storm even though I know them so well. Yet every time I read them, my faith is strengthened and renewed. . . . There is power in having the word ever before us, always, always, abiding in the word. Meditating on scripture and memorising bible verses is so key. The Holy Spirit is also our teacher and will remind us of scriptures if we are connected to Him. Sometimes we don’t need another inspirational teaching or fancy words. We simply need the undiluted word of God. We need to memorise those words, hold onto them like our lives depend on it and live the word. Continue reading on the blog . . . Link in Bio.
The word of God is living and active, sharper than any two- edged sword. A two- edged sword cuts in both directions, it can cause the heart of a man to change direction sharply. It comforts the soul in times of trouble, but can also cause deep conviction in the heart of man, exposing sin- piercing to the division of soul, and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning thoughts and intentions of the heart. . . . If we dwell continuously in the word, it truly has the power to totally transform and heal us. The Holy Spirit will teach, comfort and convict us through the word if we let Him in. It really is that simple. . . . In addition to reading the word, we need to meditate on the word until it becomes part of us and we truly believe it. The word only works when we believe it. Here are some tips for life in the word . . . . . Continue reading on the blog, if you need help with bible study or setting up a small group then please get in touch. So in one of my small groups we have been looking at dealing with our hurts this week. In the study, we came across a passage of scripture that I have actually never seen before. . . . “Now if anyone has caused pain, he has caused it not to me, but in some measure—not to put it too severely—to all of you. For such a one, this punishment by the majority is enough, so you should rather turn to forgive and comfort him, or he may be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow. So I beg you to reaffirm your love for him.” 2 Corinthians 2:5-8 . . . We were left wondering how you can possibly forgive and comfort someone who has caused you so much pain. I believe this is only possible by the power of the Holy Spirit. In this scripture there were clearly consequences for the action of the offender, but as always the Bible urges us to respond with love. All things are possible with the Holy Spirit, our comforter, dwelling on the inside of us 🙏🏾 to the point that we become love to those who hurt us. Please share any tips on dealing with hurt.
So the Bible app turned 10 yesterday! I just watched a video about how this journey started 10 years ago and I am totally in awe of God. He really is the God who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we can ask or imagine. . . The Bible app has totally transformed the way myself and my group of friends engage with the Bible. We read a bible plan weekly and discuss. I have seen women who will previously not read the Bible consistently, now changed because of you version. God bless you guys for changing lives around the world ❤️ @youversion @bobbygwald #youversion10
Jesus in teaching his disciples about the fear of God said to them : “And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Matthew 10:28 . . . This led me to believe that God must actually be the preserver of our souls if He can destroy it as well 🤔 You see such teachings of Jesus are hardly preached about today because no one wants to hear about a God who destroys 😱 . . . But our God is all powerful, our God is a consuming fire. We cannot only believe in a gentle loving God and ignore his power to destroy. He must be more powerful than any super heroes or rulers our minds can conceive if He really is in control of the whole world. How can he be King of Kings if He has no unimaginable, extraordinary, supernatural and inconceivable super powers to save and destroy? He wouldn’t be God would he? The good news is that He also preserves our souls. . . . “The LORD shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul.” Psalms 121:7 “Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” I Thessalonians 5:23 . . #god #mygod #soul #preserved #lifeverse 🙌🏾
There is always a blessing in the storm. . . We never know where God has hidden His streams. We see a large stone and have no idea that it covers the source of a spring. We see a rocky area and never imagine that it is hiding a fountain. God leads me into hard and difficult places, and it is there I realize I am where eternal streams abide. . . . . #streamsinthedesert #devotional #storm #blessed
As my family and I transition into a new home, a new environment and a new phase in our lives, I look back over the last decade in awe. In awe of this God who is my beginning and my end. The God who always knows how the story ends. The God who always has a way out of the storm especially when I don’t. The God who brought me closer to Him as a result of the storm🙌🏾 The God who is ever present, and when my feet fail as they tend to, He carries me. . . . Join me in worshipping our God. The God of all creation, the only Wise God. The God whose ways are past finding out. The immeasurable God. The Invincible God. The All Sufficient God. The Ancient of Days. No God like our God 🙌🏾 Abba Father, Immanuel, Holy Spirit - The Godhead three in one! . . . #worship #kingofkings #fridaymood
We can depend on God to fulfill His promise, even when all the roads leading to it are closed. . . ‘For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” [so be it] is spoken by us to the glory of God’ [2 cor 1:20].’ . . #mood #faithful #god
Lately I’ve been in a place where I feel I am not as completely sold out to God as I should be. The disciples left EVERYTHING and followed Christ. The Apostles in the book of Acts lived such powerful lives and declared their faith with great boldness. Today I choose to rest assured in the freedom that is found in Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit. . . As the Holy Spirit controls our minds and actions more fully, we are set free. We are liberated to become who God created and destined us to be. Our faith becomes effortless as we become more and more like Christ. That we may truly know Him and the power of His resurrection 🙏🏾 . . “and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."” 🙌🏾 John 8:32 #soulscripts #reflections #holyspirit
May all you have prayed for come your way this month. Amen 🙏🏾
Jesus gained physical, emotional and mental strength to run his race to the finish because he kept his eye on the prize. Perhaps today you are caught in the web of having had a great start, but now the trials, obstacles, hardships, and torment is causing you to want to quit and walk away. . . . I want to encourage you to keep your eyes on the prize and the end product. Keep your eyes on Jesus because he, along with the saints that have gone on ahead, is cheering you on. It might be dark, it might be lonely, but know that you are not alone. Keep your eyes on Jesus, remember how he finished, and know that you can finish also! #finishingstrong #youversion #focus
Over the last couple of days I have been meditating on the truth that this world in it’s present form, beauty and all is temporal. It was interesting that the sermon in church today was exactly that- This world is not our home. Father, help us to live our lives as such, pilgrims, passing through this life. . . . “This world and its desires are in the process of passing away, but those who love to do the will of God live forever.” 1 John 2:17 TPT . . . “The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever.”” Isaiah 40:8 #lifeverse #eternity #heaven
“The LORD is your keeper; The LORD is your shade at your right hand.” Psalms 121:5 . . . The right hand signifies strength and a place of authority ( “You have a mighty arm; Strong is Your hand, and high is Your right hand.” -Psalms 89:13 )The right hand was also the hand used for blessing other people in the Old Testament. . . Abba, we thank you for being our shade of strength and blessing 🙏🏾 #lifeverse #blessed #protected
