Basilica of Saint Francis d’Assisi. Located in the region of Umbria, it was fascinating to walk through this historic landmark where the tomb of Saint Francis lies today. 🇮🇹
Piazza San Marco at night. Venice still buzzed early evening with the sound of the city all around you. Once everything closed, it was still magical to walk around and take in the stillness in the piazza. 🇮🇹
It’s #valentinesday and I LOVE food 😄. This is pasta with fresh truffles in Venice! 🇮🇹 I love authentic Italian! What’s your favorite cuisine?
Great wine tasting and lunch at @cafe_del_rey with #lawinewriters. Today I was taken back to Greece 🇬🇷 with @greekwines! Corfu was by far my favorite🍷! I love these events because it’s a chance to learn more about wines and a chance to be surrounded by other writers who inspire me so much. #thankful 🙏🏼
Beautiful day to own a boat..or not. Just a beautiful day to be outside in general ☺️ 🌊
Il Duomo di Firenze! ⛪ 🇮🇹 Everything I saw in Florence was jaw-droppingly gorgeous. Even going through photos now, I still gasp at the beauty that is Italia!
Listen to your heart ❤️
Muddled blackberry fruit mimosa at @citytaverncc 👀
Brunching! Checking out new places in my neighborhood @citytaverncc. Great bottomless mimosas and bloody Mary’s
Raise your hand if this is you! 🙋🏻♀️ I love the crap out of so much, the most simple things can bring me to happy tears. Traveling is amazing but there is nothing like bringing that sort of excitement into your life daily! Live in gratitude and it will change your attitude! 🙌🏼☺️
A replica of David overlooking Florence 🇮🇹 in the Piazzale Michelangelo. Missing Italy something terrible on this #traveltuesday!
❤️It’s time to renew my passport! While many may find the task time consuming, I find it’s a time to celebrate 1️⃣0️⃣ years of international travel! 🎉 I’ve had a chance to reflect and realize how fortunate I am to have seen so much of this world. It’s also a time to celebrate how much I’ve matured in 10 years. My tastes have evolved, my life has been enriched through diverse cultural experiences, and I have learned the perfect travel companion has been within me all along🙋🏻♀️. Taking charge of my travel plans with solo travel really has been the most rewarding! It only increases my desire to see every corner of our world 🌎 that I can while I can. Now the question is, where do I take this shiny new passport when it arrives? 🤔
After a chat with my friend @afederman87 this evening who I met while traveling, we talked about how The Leaning Tower is a great symbol to reflect on when you feel like life is falling apart. Looking at it, you’re sure it’s falling, it’s totally unbalanced, and you can’t imagine what’s still holding it up. But there it stands beautiful and strong. The lesson? I guess we should all just learn to lean. 😉
Walking through Montepulciano in Tuscany. Shortly after I took this, it began to snow ❄️. There was a woman on the tour I was on who was experiencing seeing snow for the first time. She hugged and kissed her boyfriend in excitement and expressed to the group that it was a dream come true to see snow in person. It was was very sweet to witness her joy in that moment. Life and the little things 😊. When was the last time you felt joy like that?
"Maybe you'll meet someone so you won't have to travel alone." I don't know how many times I've heard this. 🤦🏻♀️ I don't HAVE to travel solo. I enjoy it. Don't ever let anyone tell you something's wrong with you because you enjoy traveling solo. Don't ever let anyone tell you something's wrong with you if you aren't in a relationship or simply enjoy your own company. Your life doesn't have to be defined by what society thinks it should be-you get to do that. There are people faking "great" lives and relationships daily. Live life according to your rules. Those are the only ones that matter. I needed this today. I was faced with criticism about my life choices and made to feel like I wasn't normal. But I realize I don't want to be normal. I wasn't meant for normal. I was meant for greatness and those who don't get that aren't in need of me explaining that to them. They would never get it anyway. We are not broken... We are not weak... We are not incomplete... In fact, we are more whole than most. A REAL misfit, rebel, trouble-maker. I'll take that over a FAKE normal any day.✌🏼
A solo dinner in Rome on the eve of my birthday was absolutely delightful. If you can sit alone and enjoy a meal in silence with nothing more than your own company, you’ve officially entered into the best relationship...the one with yourself. 🙏🏼😌
🎥 Such a pristine view of Montepulciano, Tuscany 🇮🇹😍. I absolutely loved this day and the tour I took of this hilltop town. It rained, it even snowed! It was perfect. What’s your perfect travel day look like?
This “mouth of truth” along with others throughout Venice served as places where Venetians could report suspicious people by putting their name on a slip of paper and put into the mouth in order to bring them to justice. Accusations were taken very seriously and if found that the claim was false, the accuser would face death 💀
Just stunning 🇮🇹
Delicious French cuisine with the the genius that is Chef Pascal at Pascal in San Juan Capistrano. Surrounded by delicious food🥘 , yummy wine🍷, and great company from @ifwtwa1 writers who share the love of travel, food, and wine 😊. Thank you for hosting us! Food: Lyonnaise Salade 😋, sea bass with a thyme crust in a seafood Chardonnay sauce and finally the Macanese Egg Tart with fruit compote. 🙌🏼 #ifwtwa
I absolutely loved how the gondolas in Venice were parked like cars. What a fascinating place! I was hoping to speak to people who actually live there to find out what daily living there is like but I was too busy drinking wine and stuffing my face with pasta 🍝😄. I guess I just have to go back 🤷🏻♀️
A Venetian morning from the Rialto Bridge on this #traveltuesday 🇮🇹 so unreal! Did you know? Venice is made up of 118 islands that are connected by 420 bridges! It has no roads only canals. 😊
Hard to take a bad photo in Venezia!!👌🏼 The Prosecco, the Italian flag 🇮🇹, the hotel just steps from the canal! Perfection. Just getting to the hundreds of photos I took on this trip. It’s taking me back which is great because I left my heart in Italy! ❤️ This trip was so different than others I’ve taken to Italy. I think it’s because I took this one solo and did exactly as I pleased! Do you have a place you can visit over and over?
One of my favorite nights in Italy 🇮🇹 was with two lovely ladies I met on this trip. On a perfect night in Florence, we enjoyed a traditional Tuscan fare including Bistecca Fiorentina 🥩(steak Florentine) which the region is known for. Perfectly grilled rare over a wood fire 🔥 and meant for sharing! This is one dish you don’t do solo! We also washed this down with bottles of Chianti, Prosecco, and limoncello (because it was my birthday duh 🙄 😆). When in Florence, this Italian T-bone is a must have. 👌🏼📸: @afederman87
#traveltuesday and the famous gondolas of Venice 🇮🇹 😍
Be it ever so humble there’s no place like home 🏡 😌
Superb Amatriciana and caprese before I fly back home. What an amazing soulo birthday adventure. Met some amazing people from all over, ate all the food, drank all the wine 🍷😊. If you think my stomach’s full, you should see my heart ❤️. Grazie mille Italia! 🇮🇹
Prosecco with my new friend Ashleigh. Dinner on the last night in Venice. 🇮🇹🥂
Venice is more beautiful than I could have ever imagined 😍
Beautiful day in Piazza San Marco, Venice. 🇮🇹
A Bellini at Harry’s Bar in Venice is a MUST!
